If you’re looking for a hotel in Soběkury, the sights and activities can help you decide what to focus on during your stay. These include the Late Baroque chapel and reconciliation stone in the village, cycling routes through Soběkury, and a slope for skiers and tobogganers. Another memorial stone commemorates Jakub Rada; near Soběkury, a path about one kilometre long also leads to Jahodový vrch. This makes it easy to consider architectural history, local remembrance, cycling and the woodland path as different interests.

Chapel and memorial stones

The Chapel of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is an octagonal Late Baroque central-plan building with a domed roof and lantern. It was built in 1826–1827 at the community’s expense. Its architecture and construction date offer two points of reference: the ground plan and roof shape its appearance, while the dated construction points to the chapel’s history. The term central-plan building describes a structure arranged around a centre; the chapel’s octagonal form gives this principle a specific expression.

The reconciliation stone is made of a block of granite with a carved four-armed cross. According to the historical interpretation, it marks the place where a travelling weaver was robbed and killed. While the chapel can be understood through its architecture and construction date, the remembered act is the focus of the reconciliation stone.

Another memorial stone commemorates Jakub Rada, who was killed by a tree in 1704. This monument therefore names the person remembered and the year; in this respect, it differs from the reconciliation stone, whose interpretation preserves the story of a travelling weaver.

Cycling routes and other activities

For cyclists, the named routes help with orientation. The cycling route called “Dětská” runs between Dnešice and Merklín through Soběkury. Cycling route 2185 runs from Přeštice to Staňkov and passes through Soběkury at kilometre 8. A duration of 113 minutes is given for route 2185. This time refers to the entire route, not to a single section in Soběkury. The difference is therefore not just in the destinations: for route 2185, the kilometre marker in Soběkury and the stated duration provide additional points of reference.

Soběkury also has a slope for skiers and tobogganers. It adds a standalone sporting activity to the cycling routes.

Path to Jahodový vrch

Near Soběkury, a path about one kilometre long leads to Jahodový vrch. The path follows a woodland track and is suitable for individuals and families with older children, but not designed for strollers. Jahodový vrch is in the forest; the surrounding trees mean there are no wide views across the landscape. If you choose this path, assess it by its woodland route and destination, not by its panoramas.
