Cycling can also be included in your plans. If you are looking for a hotel in Honezovice, these themes can help you decide what to focus on during your trip. Also include Hradišťany, a settlement belonging to Honezovice, and distinguish between the buildings in Honezovice, those in Hradišťany, and the archaeological traces in the woods behind Hradišťany.
Chapels in Honezovice and Hradišťany
The Chapel of Saint Barbara is hexagonal and built using half-timbering. Its shingle roof supports a lantern and an onion dome. An inscription above the entrance dates the chapel to 1715. It is considered a structurally unique and valuable small sacred building. A second hexagonal chapel is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Hradišťany. It was probably built in the first half of the 19th century. Both buildings share a hexagonal shape but differ in their dedication and dating: the inscription on the Chapel of Saint Barbara gives a specific year, while the Chapel of the Virgin Mary is believed to have been built within a longer period.
Residential houses, farmsteads, and distinctive architectural forms
In Hradišťany, a large residential house, No. 18, with a historicist façade and an adjoining gateway has been preserved. In Honezovice, the large farmyard at No. 10 stands out among the Neoclassical farmhouses. A nearly completely preserved farmstead includes a residential house with an interesting floor plan and richly decorated gable. The outbuilding at the rear combines the functions of a stable, dovecote, and barn. The architectural features thus range from the façade and gateway to the floor plan and gable, as well as the varied uses of a single outbuilding. East of Honezovice village square, there is also a small log cabin by the road. It is considered one of the last of its kind in the area.
Archaeological traces near Hradišťany
In the woods about 1.5 kilometers beyond the settlement of Hradišťany are the remains of a Slavic hillfort dating from the 10th to 11th century. It covers approximately 2.3 hectares. A burial mound field with twelve mounds was discovered about 200 meters southwest of the hillfort remains. The two archaeological features can therefore be distinguished both by their form and by their spatial relationship: one is an extensive hillfort site, while the other is a burial mound field to the southwest.
