Sedliště Nad Úslavou brings together a village center shaped by local history, a landscape shaped by agriculture, and a high proportion of woodland. Buildings on the village square, a former manor farm outside the village, and routes across the administrative area offer different points of interest. When planning your trip, you can choose between village architecture, hiking trails, and a published cycling route.

Local History and Village Architecture

The earliest written records of Sedliště documented in official documents date from 1552. The fortunes of the monastery below Zelená Hora are also closely tied to the village’s history. Together, these offer a specific historical point of reference and a connection to the monastery’s history for understanding the village.

A memorial cross with a cylindrical shaft stands in front of the chapel on the village square. At farmstead No. 30 on the village square is a timber-framed granary with a distinctive exterior cladding. In this construction method, beams are stacked in layers to form walls; the granary is an example of traditional rural architecture.

Another historic building now serves a municipal purpose: the former school building, dating from the 1920s–1930s, now houses the Sedliště municipal office. Its impressively designed façade has recently been restored. Outside Sedliště, a former manor farm stands on a slope above the road. A small pond is next to the farm. These examples place the village’s history both on the village square and beyond the built-up area.

Landscape, Stream, and Hiking Trails

The built-up area lies in a landscape shaped by agriculture, with a high proportion of woodland. The Čížkovský potok flows along the southern edge of the administrative area; near Srby, it joins the Úslava. The local waterways are therefore located at different points: the stream runs along the edge of the administrative area, while its confluence with the Úslava is near Srby.

A marked hiking trail runs along the northwestern edge of the cadastral area in the Doubrava woodland complex (Bábin vrch). In addition, field and forest tracks crisscross the entire administrative area and provide suitable routes for visitors. These details refer to different spatial scales: a marked trail along the northwestern edge and tracks that crisscross the administrative area as a whole. Check the signs for the marked trail before setting out; individual routes may change.

For planning purposes, you can distinguish these hiking routes from the cycling route: the field and forest tracks are spread across the administrative area, while the marked hiking trail is located in a specific woodland complex. This provides different local points of reference, although no walking times or difficulty levels are specified for the routes.

Cycling Route and Getting There

An older published cycling route called “Za výhledy přes hory a doly” (For Views Across Mountains and Valleys) passes through Sedliště and then continues via Srby along CT 31. As this is an older published route, check the current signs and trail surface conditions before cycling. The route thus offers a distinct point of reference for planning, separate from the hiking trails in the administrative area.

Road and bus connections are also worth considering when planning your journey. Road III/17717 runs north and provides a transport connection between Sedliště and other municipalities in the wider area. Sedliště is also served by buses. If you plan to travel by bus, check the current timetable before your journey.
