Dolce: Hills, History and Nature
Accommodation in Dolce
If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Dolce, the landscape and local history can help you get a sense of the destination. The village lies at an elevation of 452 metres in a deep valley between the hills of Hůrka and Jindřín and Dolecký les. This makes the valley and hill landscape, historic monuments, a nature trail and a fishing pond useful points to consider when planning your trip. You can give these aspects different weight depending on your interests.
Landscape and traces at Jindřín
The distinctive hill of Jindřín lies southwest of Dolce and reaches an elevation of 535 metres. Remains of a former fortified hilltop settlement are still visible at Jindřín. The site has been protected as a historic monument since 3 May 1958. Here, a named landscape feature and archaeological traces come together. Visitors interested in local history will find at Jindřín both a specific elevation and a historical connection to a once-fortified settlement.
Nature trail and chapels
The Čertovo břemeno nature trail is a circular route about 15 kilometres long, which you can complete on foot or by bicycle. Its approximate length and the two suggested ways of travelling give you an idea of the scope of the route. One stop on the trail is the Chapel of St. Hubert: it is the fifth stop, the one closest to the municipality of Dolce, and is located in Dolcko Forest. This specific named stop also provides a way to get a sense of the circular route.
The village is home to the present-day Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua. It was built at the end of 1930 and fully completed in 1934. These two dates mark different stages in its construction: the building work and its subsequent completion. The war memorial also commemorates the village’s history. It is dedicated to 14 men from Dolce who did not return from the First World War. 26 June 1921 was set as the delivery date for the memorial. Its commemorative purpose and scheduled delivery date provide two distinct points of connection to local history.
Fishing and a regular sale
Since 2017, Dolcký rybník has served as a sport-fishing pond for catching trophy fish and offers up to 50 fishing spots. Fishing follows the “catch and release” principle. If fishing is part of your travel plans, check the specific fishing regulations before you arrive.
Another regular offering is direct sales by Ing. Douděra. He sells his products on the first Saturday of every month from 3 to 5 p.m. at Anežčin Dvůr in Dolce. If you plan to visit the sale, it is best to confirm the upcoming date in advance. The set opening times make a visit easier to plan, while the fishing regulations are relevant to the activity itself. Together, these two offerings give you different reasons to include Dolce in your travel plans.
