Dobrany offers a variety of ways to plan your day: a green river landscape, a longer walking trail, churches with distinctive features, summer recreation and a petting zoo. You can tailor your stay to the topics that interest you most, rather than getting to know the town from just one perspective.

Landscape and walks

Dobřany lies in a valley on the right bank of the Radbuza. The surrounding area is green, with numerous wooded hills. If you would like to spend time outdoors, Lesopark Martinská stěna has a walking trail of more than two kilometres. There are 14 information points along the trail.

The forest park is accessible on foot only; vehicles can be left in the adjacent car parks. Keep this distinction in mind when planning: the route through the park is a walking route, while the car parks are intended for arriving by vehicle. The route description does not specify a walking time or difficulty level.

Kotynka in the summer months

The public natural swimming biotope Kotynka offers another way to spend time outdoors. It is located on Ústavní Street in Dobřany, between the Horní Kotynka and Dolní Kotynka ponds. During the summer months, Kotynka is a place for recreation and relaxation, as well as leisure activities and sports.

The water treatment is another distinctive feature of the complex: the water is kept biologically clean without chemical treatment. This is achieved using filter lagoons with water-purifying plants.

Churches, the square and an exhibition

Dobřany’s churches differ in their architecture and use. The Baroque Church of St. Vitus is considered an outstanding work by the Pilsen master builder Jakub Auguston the Younger, dating from the first half of the 18th century. Its interior is used as a gallery and houses the permanent exhibition “Dobřanské baroko”. The church is open during the opening hours of the Dobřany Information Centre. Check the opening hours before your visit.

The Church of St. Nicholas has different highlights: these include a detached tower, late Baroque frescoes and a Rococo organ. T. G. Masaryk Square is also home to several picturesque townhouses, the town hall and two churches. Together, these varied buildings offer a reason to discover Dobřany through its architecture and history—from the Baroque church with its exhibition to the frescoes and organ in St. Nicholas.

More ideas for your stay

At Farmapark Dobřany, visitors can feed and pet animals in the enclosures; the park is designed as a petting zoo. Playgrounds and attractions for children are also available. This adds another specific activity to your stay, alongside walks and cultural attractions.

Dobřany’s brewery is also part of the town’s local character. Beer is brewed there using traditional Czech technology and malt, hops and water. The beers on offer are served as yeast-cloudy, unfiltered beers. A description of the brewing process and beer varieties adds to the choice of outdoor activities, architecture and seasonal recreation.

Dobřany is about 20 minutes from the centre of Plzeň by car, train or bus. Check travel times before your trip. The combination of attractions mentioned here can help you plan your stay around specific interests: Lesopark is ideal for a walk, Kotynka for summer recreation, and the churches for architecture and exhibitions.
