Strukov lies in a lowland region on drained ponds. The local features offer several distinct focal points for a stay: the Teplička and field paths lined with tree avenues, the village character around the village square, and local memorial sites and the Hody festival. Which of these suits your reason for travelling may also influence when you choose to visit.

Landscape and a quiet spot by the pond

The Teplička flows through Strukov and forms its western boundary. Tree avenues line the field paths, which stretch far into the surrounding area. The stream and the paths offer different points of reference in the landscape: the watercourse here, the tree-lined paths there. Visitors can take a rest by the pond at Strukov Biocenter. If a break by the pond is important to you, this gives you a specific place to unwind in the village.

Village square and streetscape

A statue of the Virgin Mary stands in the village centre. The bell tower is the defining building on the village square. Its four-sided structure has smooth façades, a hipped roof and a cross at the roof’s peak. A hipped roof has sloping roof surfaces on the end walls too, setting it apart from a roof with vertical gable ends. The streetscape also has its own name: small cottages alternate with somewhat larger farmsteads; this distinctive landscape of houses is called “Zlatá ulička”. The name refers to a sequence of buildings of different sizes, not just a single building.

Memorials and local history

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is also among the village’s religious artworks. It was extensively restored in 2003. A memorial plaque is displayed at house No. 7, the birthplace of František Hrubý. Together, these sites represent two different forms of remembrance: a restored statue of a saint and a plaque at the birthplace of a named person.

Hody festival and when to visit

The Hody festival is held regularly on the Sunday closest to 16 May, the feast day of Saint John of Nepomuk. The programme includes an open-air church service, a procession through the village and then a folk festival. Its connection to the feast day links the Hody with the statue of the saint in the village. If you want to plan your trip around the Hody, check the exact date for the year in question.

Getting there and finding hotels

As of 31 December 2025, Strukov had a bus stop but no railway station. Check the specific connections for your travel date. When looking for hotels in Strukov, your travel dates may be decisive if you plan to attend the Hody. If you are mainly interested in the village square, memorial sites or landscape, you can schedule your stay around your own calendar.
