Lipina lies in the central, hilly part of the Nízký Jeseník. About 44 percent of the municipality’s area lies within the Sovinecko Nature Park. The nature park was established to protect the character of the landscape and woodland complexes with a tree composition close to the original vegetation. The natural surroundings, routes and individual cultural sites offer different perspectives on the area. If you are looking for a hotel in Lipina, you can choose the focus of your stay based on whether you are more interested in the routes, the landscape or local history.

Routes through Lipina and the surrounding area

“Za živou vodou” is a 36-kilometre cycling route through rolling terrain with significant elevation changes. It starts at the square in Šternberk, passes through Dolní Žleb, Horní Žleb, Dalov, Horní Loděnice, Těšíkov and Lipina, then returns to the square in Šternberk. Lipina is therefore part of a longer loop; the stated distance and terrain description refer to the entire route.

The Zelená stezka nature trail runs from Šternberk through Lipina and Těšíkov to the Těšíkovská kyselka mineral spring. The two routes offer different ways to find your bearings: “Za živou vodou” is described in terms of its length, rolling terrain and return to Šternberk, while the Zelená stezka focuses on the route to the spring. You can distinguish between the routes by their described character rather than just by the place names.

Connection to the Ecce Homo racetrack

There is a specific point of interest for motorsport enthusiasts: the ECCE HOMO ŠTERNBERK course is 7,800 metres long and has an elevation change of 307 metres. The Ecce Homo hill-climb course passes through the municipality of Lipina. The measurements describe the named course; the second detail indicates where it runs within the municipality.

Chapel and local history

The brick chapel of “Navštívení Panny Marie” stands in the centre of Lipina. Coming from Šternberk, it is about 50 metres from the road, at the junction with the road to Těšíkov. The current chapel replaced a wooden chapel in 1838; in 2013, it was completely reconstructed inside and out. The earliest recorded mention of the municipality dates from 1296. The early record of the municipality and the later stages in the chapel’s construction therefore belong to different periods.

Behind Lipina, near the old Ecce Homo road, stands a statue of Ježíš Kristus. It is among the sites listed within the municipality for their above-average aesthetic and architectural qualities.

Places to stop and take in the view

Two tourist seating areas were created in Lipina in 2018: one by a pond, the other on the path to Oldřichovský kopec. The second location offers a beautiful view of Haná. The two spots are distinguished by their surroundings: one is by the pond, the other is on a path with views across the landscape. The listed connection to the Těšíkovská kyselka also includes the stops Lipina, rozc. and Lipina, Stachov.
