From the resort, you can enjoy views of the Oderské vrchy and the Nízký Jeseník.

Kartouzka: Monastery Ruins and Stations of the Cross

Kartouzka preserves the remains of a medieval Carthusian monastery dating from 1388–1425, as well as a Hussite fortification associated with it. The site contains visible remnants of the stone church walls, cloisters and individual cells. Its historical significance therefore encompasses several parts of the monastery: the church walls, cloisters and cells, alongside the associated fortification. These different remains give a tangible impression of the architectural components that made up the complex.

A Stations of the Cross was also created at Kartouzka in Dolany in spring 2021. Children from the Miroslav Stibor Art School in Dolany (ZUŠ Miroslava Stibora – Dolany) contributed to the ceramic reliefs under the direction of Helena Lisá. Fathers built the crosses together with children from the local parish. The Stations of the Cross are clearly distinct in date from the medieval monastery ruins; their creation brought together a religious design and the participation of schoolchildren and families from the parish.

Buildings from Different Centuries

Dolany Château is an early Baroque building dating from 1667, surrounded by a park. The Church of St Matthew is a single-nave Late Baroque building dating from 1776–1785. “Single-nave” refers to the church’s layout, with one nave, while “Late Baroque” describes its stylistic period. The two terms therefore describe different features of the church.

The Dolany rectory dates from 1829–1835 and is a valuable part of the parish church complex. The rectory garden contains an 1844 belvedere in the Oriental style. On the village square stands a column topped with a statue of St John of Nepomuk: the work, dating from 1709, is iconographically rare. The chronology runs from the château to the column and parish church, followed by the rectory and belvedere. Dolany’s historical heritage is therefore not limited to a single period or just one type of building.
