Štáblovice: Castle, Church and Trails
Accommodation in Štáblovice
Štáblovice Castle is located in the center of the village. The Church of St. Lawrence and the castle park also offer cultural highlights during your stay. For your plans, there is also a blue-marked hiking trail and the Radegast Opava cycling route 6221. The attractions range from historic buildings and landscaped gardens to hiking and cycling opportunities. If you are looking for a hotel, you can match this mix to your travel plans: are you most interested in local history, a visit to the park, or hiking and cycling?
Castle and Church: Different Historical Periods
Following its reconstruction, the castle opened to the public in 2021. A single tour of its most representative rooms is offered. Before your visit, check the current access conditions and whether the tour is available at the time of your visit.
The Church of St. Lawrence was built in 1603 and preserves sandstone tombstones from the earlier Gothic church. This makes it possible to distinguish two historical periods in one place: the year the church was built and the older tombstones. St. Lawrence has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 2006.
The dates refer to different events: 1603 marks the construction of the church, 2006 its protection as a cultural monument, and 2021 the castle’s opening to the public following its reconstruction.
Castle Park and Garden Design
A romantic bower surrounds the castle garden, which is laid out according to the plan of the original French garden. This distinguishes two features of the park design: the bower encircles the garden, while the French layout shapes its overall design. The castle park can be visited free of charge during the stated opening hours. Check the current opening hours before your visit.
Hiking and Cycling Routes, Bus and Train
A blue-marked hiking trail passes through Štáblovice. The Radegast Opava cycling route 6221 also runs through the village. These are listed as separate options for planning a hike or bike ride. Check the route details before setting out, as they may be updated.
The Štáblovice, u křížku stop is served by routes 241 (Vítkov–Opava and return) and 243 (Budišov nad Budišovkou–Opava and return). Route 241 also stops at Štáblovice, zámek. Since route numbers may change, check the current timetable before traveling.
The railway stop serving Štáblovice is in the Štáblovický mlýn district, on route 314 between Opava and Svobodné Heřmanice. It is about 3 km on foot from the village center along the blue-marked hiking trail. Before setting off, also check current train services and the route.
