Zájezd: Zoo Park and Nature Trail
Accommodation in Zájezd
Zoo Park Zájezd combines animal watching, supervised feedings, and a nature trail. The highlights differ depending on what you are looking for: the “Terária” area focuses on chameleons and other animal groups, while the “Naučná stezka” focuses on nature knowledge and learning to identify animal tracks and bird calls. There is also a walk-through aviary and a children’s area with rabbits. You can therefore decide whether to plan your visit around animal watching, a feeding activity, or the nature trail.
Watch animals and compare feeding activities
In the “Terária” area, visitors can see the world’s largest public collection of chameleons up close. Rare iguanas, as well as turtles, songbirds, spiders, and stick insects, are also displayed there. The species on display may change. A walk-through aviary is home to curious squirrels and golden pheasants; the animals available may vary. In the “Ušákov” children’s area, children can play with the world’s largest rabbits.
As part of the “Rodinné krmení zvířat” program, visitors feed an animal of their choice accompanied by an animal keeper. In “Krmení pro odvážné,” visitors can feed chameleons, iguanas, or snakes with insect food. The format also matters when choosing between the programs: in the first, visitors choose an animal and are accompanied by an animal keeper; the second focuses on feeding specific animal groups. The two formats therefore differ both in how visitors participate and in the animals involved. These visitor activities may change; check the current programs in advance.
Nature topics on the Naučná stezka
The “Naučná stezka” adds nature topics in the area around the zoo to your visit. Visitors learn about the natural world and how to identify animal tracks and the calls of Czech bird species. The trail has more than ten stops and interactive features, and runs around the camel to the lower area with an amphitheater and children’s playground. The combination of nature information and a specific route distinguishes the trail from animal watching: animal tracks and bird calls are also a focus here. The route and facilities may be updated; check the current situation before your visit.
Plan parking and how to get there
Zoo Park Zájezd has two visitor areas. Check the current access rules when planning your visit. The main car park is outside the municipality of Zájezd, in the direction of Libochovičky. From there, a 500 m walk through nature takes you along the nature trail or through the butterfly garden. Bus travelers can reach the zoo on routes 350/622 from Praha, Dejvická to Kladno via Okoř, and on route 342 from Praha, Veleslavín to Slaný, stopping at Bouchalka. If traveling by car, use the walk from the main car park as a point of reference; if traveling by bus, the route and stop are the key details. Parking options, timetables, routes, and access rules may change. Check these details before setting out.
