Řevničov combines a local history dating back to the 14th century with churches, a historic village square that has been preserved to this day, and recurring festivals. Hikers and cyclists can find information about marked trails in the surrounding area, as well as individual routes. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Řevničov, you can take cultural points of interest and different route options into account when planning your trip.

History, Architecture and Festivals

Řevničov was founded under a charter signed by John of Luxembourg on 4 November 1325 in Münnerstadt, Bavaria. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul is mentioned as early as 1352 and was later rebuilt in the Late Baroque style. The two years mark distinct points of reference: 1325 marks the founding of the town, while 1352 marks the church’s early mention. This makes it possible to distinguish the town’s history from the building history of this place of worship.

The Chapel of Saint Anne dates from 1830. Řevničov’s historic village square has been preserved to this day. Oličova Vila (House No. 138) is an architecturally distinctive building made of hand-worked Džbán marlstone.

The local festivals follow different schedules: Řevničovské posvícení is always held on the third Sunday in October. Řevničovská pouť is celebrated on the feast day of Saints Peter and Paul; its exact date varies with the calendar. If you would like to plan your stay around either occasion, check the dates for the relevant year.

Hiking and the Natural Environment

A hiking route leads from Řevničov railway station to the Prameny Klíčavy springs and back. The total round-trip distance is 9 km; almost the entire route follows marked hiking trails. Marked hiking trails also run around Řevničov; the 9 km figure refers to this specific route.

The Prameny Klíčavy nature reserve lies 500 metres south of the railway station. In the Křivoklátsko region, it is the only peatland spring locality of its kind.

Cycling Route and Getting There

Cycling Route 8192 is 20.6 km long and ends at a trail junction below Malý Louštín in Řevničov. An older classification describes it as easy; assessments of difficulty can be subjective. Based on the stated distances, the cycling route is more than twice as long as the 9 km hike. Check local signage before setting off. Marked cycling routes of regional importance also run through the surrounding area.

Railway line No. 120 between Prague and Rakovník runs through Řevničov. A railway station is located in the area of the Řevničov sawmill. Public transport serves seven stops in both directions. While the railway line identifies the connection between Prague and Rakovník, the stops provide an overview of local service points. Check the current timetable for your specific travel dates.
