Kyšice: Discover local history and landscapes
Accommodation in Kyšice
Kyšice combines an easily explored local history with gently rolling landscapes. The village lies on the western edge of the Prague Plateau, at the transition between the Kladno Tableland and the Lány Hills. Several historical points of interest are clustered around the village square and near the chapel; landscape features include the Kačák stream to the south and the Parkán pond on the edge of the village. When looking for a hotel, these themes can help you identify different priorities: local history, nature and specific leisure activities.
Local history between the chapel and the Sokolovna
The Chapel of St. Florian is a landmark of Kyšice. It was built in 1863 using municipal funds. On the village square near the chapel stands a cross on a sandstone plinth dating from 1888. Also on the village square, a memorial commemorates the residents of Kyšice who fell in the First World War (1914–1918) and the victims of the German occupation of Bohemia during the Second World War (1939–1945). Thus, within a small area, you will find a landmark, a cross and a memorial with two distinct historical associations.
Above Kyšice, on the road to Braškov, stands a wayside shrine dating from 1897. The Sokolovna in Kyšice tells another part of the village’s history: it was built in 1924–1925 using contributions and donations from residents and served for many years as the centre of sporting and cultural life. While the chapel, cross and wayside shrine are defined by specific buildings and locations, the story of the Sokolovna points to community involvement and the village’s former club life.
The “Čarodějnice” festival is also part of the recurring events calendar. Kyšice holds it every year, with a lantern procession through the village. If you would like to include the festival in your travel plans, check the date in advance.
Landscape and nature
The Kačák stream, also known as Loděnice, flows south of Kyšice through a wooded valley. The Parkán pond lies on the edge of the village and covers an area of about 70 ares. These offer contrasting landscape features: a stream running through a wooded valley and a pond at the edge of the settlement.
The Kyšice–Kobyla Site of Community Importance is another natural feature. It covers 20.3731 hectares and protects the great crested newt (Triturus cristatus). At the regional level, the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area begins about 4 km from Kyšice. These details place the natural features at different scales, from named features in the village to a larger protected area in the region.
Activities and leisure facilities
A cycle and footpath, newly built in 2009, connects Kyšice and Unhošť. It is intended for pedestrians and cyclists and is frequently used by residents. An older municipal route description lists marked cycle route 201 from Kyšice via Valdek onwards to Družec. Before setting off, check whether the markings are still up to date.
For activities at the Sokolovna, the small hall and the multi-purpose outdoor court can be reserved. The hall is intended for fitness training, dancing, yoga and table tennis, with three tables. The outdoor court can be used for tennis, nohejbal, volleyball, five-a-side football and basketball. Check the availability of your preferred space in advance.
Kyšice also has a sauna. Women’s sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays from 18:00 to 22:00, and men’s sessions for Thursdays from 18:00 to 22:00. Private hire is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 to 22:00; last admission is at 20:00 on both days. The sauna information was last updated on 15 December 2025. As opening times and booking conditions may change, check both before your visit.
