Kutrovice: Chapel, Village Center and Routes
Accommodation in Kutrovice
Kutrovice combines a valley along the Bakovský potok with a historic village center and regional routes. When choosing a destination for your stay, you can therefore weigh two interests: the village’s architectural and local history, or routes connecting Kutrovice with other places. A late Baroque chapel, an old mill and a horse chestnut designated as a natural monument offer different points of interest. The village center is also designated as an archaeological area, the place is documented in a record from 1366, and a mandolin club has existed here for a long time.
Valley and Natural Features
Kutrovice lies in a valley where the Bakovský potok crosses Road No. 7 beneath the Kutrovický Bridge. The stream, bridge and road are thus connected at a specific point in the valley. The village is also home to a horse chestnut designated as a natural monument. This natural feature adds a single named tree to the valley landscape; together, Kutrovice’s connection to the landscape and its designated horse chestnut can be understood as two distinct features of the place.
Buildings and History
A late Baroque chapel dating from the mid-19th century stands on the village square in the southern part of Kutrovice; it has been protected as a cultural monument since 1987. To the west is House No. 2, a two-storey brick house with an arcaded gallery and an example of regionally typical folk architecture from the first half of the 19th century. The dates place the house in the first half and the chapel in the middle of the 19th century. An old mill adds to the village’s historic features. The medieval and modern-era village center is designated as a Category ÚAN II archaeological area. Kutrovice is documented in 1366 in the title of Petr z Kutrovic. The village has also had a mandolin club for a long time.
Routes Around Kutrovice
For a longer trip, a route just over 11 kilometers long runs from Tuřany through Byseň, Libovice, U Jána, Neprobylice, Kutrovice and Kvílice to Třebíz. It is suitable for hiking, off-road strollers and cycling. The sequence of places shows Kutrovice as one section between Tuřany and Třebíz, rather than one of the stated endpoints. This places the village within a longer connection with several stops. Check current trail conditions before setting out.
Another hiking option is the “Od svatého Ducha do sídla pána z Pětipes” educational trail, which runs from Kvílice to Neprobylice. The continuation follows the road to Kutrovice; a short detour leads to the chapel there. If the chapel is your specific point of interest, this detour along the road is a practical landmark as you continue. By contrast, the regional route stands out for its length, the sequence of several places and the activities it accommodates. Before setting out, it is worth checking the trail’s current condition and signage.
