Královice offers specific points of interest for a trip focused on architectural and cultural history: the Chapel of St Michael the Archangel (Kaple sv. Archanděla Michaela), the medieval Královice Fortress (Tvrz Královice), the Sandstone Bridge (Pískovcový most) and the Koulova lime tree (Koulova lípa). There is also a local event and a riding route to Neprobylice. If you are looking for a hotel for your trip, you can first decide whether architectural history, the event or riding will shape your stay.

Chapel and fortress: different building phases

The Chapel of St Michael the Archangel (Kaple sv. Archanděla Michaela) dates from the second half of the 18th century. It is registered as a cultural monument under registration number 35391/2-496 and was fully reconstructed in 2012. Its construction date and later reconstruction mark two distinct phases in its history; the listing identifies its monument status.

The medieval Královice Fortress (Tvrz Královice) is first mentioned towards the end of the 14th century. The date on the plaster of the tower’s south facade attests to Renaissance alterations made in 1562. Its condition is also important for planning your visit: the fortress is unused and in critical condition. Do not assume that the public can visit the interior.

Bridge and protected tree

The Sandstone Bridge (Pískovcový most) is a two-span arched sandstone bridge over the Bakovský stream. Statues of St Wenceslas and St John of Nepomuk stand on the bridge. “Two-span” describes its division into two bridge spans. This lets you distinguish the structure, material and two named saint figures at this landmark.

The Koulova lime tree (Koulova lípa) is a small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata) that has been protected as a memorial tree since 22 October 2012. It adds a different type of local heritage to the buildings: here, the focus is on the tree species and its protected status, while the chapel, fortress and bridge are understood through their architectural forms and historical phases.

Riding routes and their different planning

The Královice–Neprobylice Riding Route (Koňská stezka Královice–Neprobylice) connects Královice with Neprobylice. Check its route status locally before your trip. There is also the Central Bohemian North–South Riding Route project (Středočeská koňská stezka Sever-Jih): Královice is its main initiator, and the planned route is intended to connect existing riding routes in the Ústecký and South Bohemian regions. The local route connects two specifically named places; the regional project aims to link existing riding routes.

The maps for the Central Bohemian North–South Riding Route (Středočeská koňská stezka Sever-Jih) show riding routes and ranches, with information about horse hire, bookable accommodation and meals. If you want to use this information to plan your ride, check the route status and the services offered by each ranch in advance.

Královice Festival and Harvest Festival (Královické slavnosti a dožínky)

The Královice Festival and Harvest Festival (Královické slavnosti a dožínky) is a traditional local event. Editions took place in 2018, 2019 and 2024.
