If you are looking for a hotel in Kus, you can compare these highlights with your own travel plans and check the information about road conditions.

Cave and Karst Landscape

Gryka e Skoranës is a canyon formed by river erosion in limestone, along the middle course of the Erzen, near Shpella e Zezë and Pëllumbas. It is about 1 km long, over 120 m deep and about 20 m wide. A large karst spring emerges on the left slope, a few dozen metres below Shpella e Zezë.

Shpella e Zezë, also known as Shpella e Pëllumbasit, is about 360 m long, 10–15 m wide and 15–45 m high. The cave contains stalactites and stalagmites; the stated measurements are not yet final. In 2002, Shpella e Zezë was declared a natural monument. It is also listed as a Category I cultural monument as Shpella e Pëllumbasit in Pëllumbas, Bërzhitë. According to one historical interpretation, early humans later used the cave as a settlement during the Middle Paleolithic.

Hiking Trails and Roads

A hiking route about 2 km long runs through impressive gorge scenery above the Erzen to the entrance of Pëllumbas Cave. Another hiking route leads from Pëllumbas to waterfalls along the Erzen. Gryka e Skoranës can be visited via the approximately 27 km Tiranë–Ibë–Pëllumbas road.

The Kocaj–Ura Kakunjë road section is also relevant when driving to Kus: it is the only through route for Kus, Lugë and Shalqizë. Most of the section is unpaved; the existing asphalt surface is damaged. Check road conditions again before setting out. In the administrative unit of Bërzhitë, to which Kus belongs, the settlement area lies on both sides of the Tiranë–Elbasan national road.
