Vallensbæk: Beach, Moorland Trails and Culture
Accommodation in Vallensbæk
Vallensbæk Mose covers 50 hectares and extends across parts of the municipalities of Albertslund, Høje-Taastrup, Ishøj and Vallensbæk. Coastline, trails, birdwatching and village history offer different ways to shape your stay.
Moorland, trails and wildlife watching
Vallensbæk Mose has numerous trails for walking and outdoor activities throughout the year. The Vallensbæk Clover Trails comprise four marked routes of varying lengths and themes; they start at Vallensbæk Sports Centre. As the markings on individual routes may change, follow the current signs along the way.
The Black Clover Trail, also called the Moor and Nordmarken Trail, is 10.5 kilometres long and runs through Vallensbæk Mose and Nordmarken. Information about local botany, wildlife, waterways and buildings complements instructions for warm-up, interval and strength exercises. The Vestegns Route offers a different distance: it is 42.195 kilometres long, can be travelled on foot, by bicycle or running, and passes Vallensbæk Harbour, among other places. At 10.5 kilometres, the Black Clover Trail is considerably shorter than the 42.195-kilometre Vestegns Route.
For birdwatching, Vallensbæk Bird Tower and Information Centre is a dedicated destination. The site is accessible to everyone, and both observation hides have step-free access. Birds you may spot in the moor include grey herons, buzzards, kestrels, hooded crows, jackdaws and swans, as well as smaller birds such as reed buntings and reed warblers. Strandparken is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including nearly 200 different bird species.
Coast and water
Vallensbæk Beach is a sandy beach with good swimming conditions. It is part of Strandparken, a seven-kilometre stretch of coastline along Køge Bay. Swimming conditions can change with the seasons and environmental conditions. In a statement dated 28 May 2026, Vallensbæk Municipality reported that the beach has received the Blue Flag every year since 2013; the award applies to a specific year.
There are also different ways to enjoy the water: fishing, renting rowing boats and buying day fishing permits are all possible at Vallensbæk Mose. Vallensbæk Lake has a water-skiing facility operated as part of Vallensbæk Water Ski Club; club rules may change. Valhal bathing facilities offer an outdoor pool, a cold-water shower and a toilet, as well as indoor changing rooms and a sauna. Access depends on the season and user group.
Restaurant Krabben is located at Vallensbæk Marina. In summer, it serves lunch and dinner on a large terrace. Check opening hours and the current menu before visiting.
Village history and art
Vallensbæk Village is a well-preserved village with old farms, a village pond and a medieval church. Vallensbæk Church was built between 1150 and 1200 in the Romanesque style; the Late Gothic tower was added in the 16th century. The church interior features frescoes created around 1450 by the Isefjord Master.
Public art is another local highlight. Gænger is an interactive light installation on the bridge over Ringvejen: its lighting responds to people walking or cycling across the bridge; maintenance may be required. The artwork Flyttet Istid includes a concrete glacial erratic on Vallensbæk Havnevej. Lille Tilde is a sculpture in Vallensbæk Mose that looks out over the water and is partially accessible to people with reduced mobility.
PULS is a permanent public art venue beneath Vallensbæk Station. Video art is shown on a large screen; the works change regularly, and PULS can be enjoyed free of charge.
Activities and recurring events
Vallensbæk Football Golf is free and open to everyone. The course has 18 holes with obstacles such as tunnels, barriers and bushes; its natural surroundings include a lake and wildflowers.
