The War Memorial Chapel was built in 1714 as a square mortuary chapel in the southern wall of the cemetery. A ceremony is held at the chapel every year on Seelsonntag, the Sunday after All Saints’ Day. If you include this date in your travel plans, check the latest information about the ceremony.
Another art-historical detail is the mosaic of St. Gertraud in Sistrans. The Zirl Mosaic Workshop created it in 1910 under Mr. Pfefferle.
Landscape and Trails
The Sischtiger Bannzaun was a former dry-stone wall 600 m long. It separated Sistrans’ fields from the forest of the Aldrans farmers to the north and marked the municipal boundary between Sistrans and Aldrans. Sections of the wall have collapsed; the length given describes the former wall, not a structure that has been preserved in its entirety. The separation of farmland and the marking of the boundary are connected here.
The Patscherkofel-Zirmberg Landscape Conservation Area also includes parts of the municipality of Sistrans.
The Speckbacherweg trail passes through meadows and fields to the village of Sistrans and continues to the Olympia Bob and Luge Track in Igls, in the direction of the Goldbichl Archaeological Trail. The Bee Educational Trail has a different starting point: it begins at the Tigls car park by the primary school.
