Oberhofen Im Inntal brings together several travel interests: protected religious buildings, the Baroque parish church, a hike to the Oberhofer Melkalm and the seasonal cherry harvest at Kirschland Oberhofen. When choosing a hotel, you can decide whether culture, hiking or the harvest period is your priority. These distinctions can help you plan your travel dates and daily activities around the purpose of your trip.

Culture and Architecture

The Federal Monuments Authority Austria’s 2025 Tyrolean list of protected monuments includes the Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas and its cemetery, the Kohler Chapel and the Plague Chapel—also known as the Emergency Helpers Chapel—in Oberhofen Im Inntal. The parish church also has a more specific architectural distinction: following restorations in 1972/73 and 1979/81, it once again has an almost unaltered Baroque interior. The dates refer to two restoration periods; “interior” describes the overall impression of the inside of the church. Unlike the chapels, the parish church therefore has a second point of interest: in addition to its protected status, the overall Baroque effect of its interior is also a focus.

Kulturstadel as an Event Venue

The restored and adapted former farm building on the Rimml site is available as an event venue called “Kulturstadel.” Its former use as a farm building and its current use for events mark two distinct phases in the building’s history.

Hike to the Oberhofer Melkalm

The Oberhofer Melkalm is just under 1,700 metres above sea level and can be reached on foot from the village of Oberhofen in about three hours. The walking time is approximate and depends on conditions and your pace. The elevation and walking time answer different questions: the elevation indicates the destination’s altitude, while the three hours provide an approximate time for the walk from the village.

Cherry Harvest and Products

At Kirschland Oberhofen, you can pick cherries yourself every day in June and July, including by prior telephone arrangement. Self-picking is seasonal; confirm before travelling whether it falls within your travel dates. The range includes nine different varieties of sweet cherries, plums in July, August and September, pure bee honey, and fine spirits, which are available year-round. Product availability depends on seasonal supply. If a particular product is important to you, check its availability in advance. In July, self-picking overlaps with the plum season; cherries can also be harvested in June, while plums are part of the seasonal offering in August and September as well.

Travel Dates and Daily Planning

Different details matter when planning your trip: the cherry harvest defines a seasonal period, the approximate walking time to the Melkalm provides a guide for the day, and an event date may determine your travel dates. First decide on the purpose of your trip, then look for a hotel for the right period.
