Dietikon: History, Sculptures and Nature
Accommodation in Dietikon
Dietikon lies in the Limmat Valley, where the Reppisch and Limmat rivers meet. Places to explore during a stay range from local history and art to floodplains, leisure activities and a seasonal market. When planning your visit, you can decide whether you would most like to experience culture, nature or outdoor activities.
Rivers, Floodplains and Riverside Paths
The former channels of the Limmat near Dietikon form a valuable floodplain landscape and a fen of national importance. They feature a wide variety of habitats and provide a home for many protected and endangered animals and plants. The Limmat, Reppisch, Schäflibach and Teischlibach rivers and streams also flow through Dietikon.
In the wider region around Dietikon, the Dietikon and Geroldswil floodplains extend between Geroldswil and Dietikon. Paths along the renaturalised Limmat offer opportunities to enjoy nature and observe waterbirds. For a quieter time outdoors, Marmoriweiher pond in the Grunschen area is a place to relax, stroll and picnic; Dietikon’s Grunschen area also has a low-impact running trail.
Sculptures and Outdoor Art
Bruno Weber Park near Dietikon is considered the largest sculpture park in Switzerland created by a single artist; the artworks are set within nature. Highlights include monumental, walk-through sculptures and an artist’s studio and residence with a tower. During a guided tour, the various sculptures are explained in more detail; the tour takes place mainly outdoors. As booking arrangements may change, check them when making concrete plans for your visit.

Local History and City Tours
The Dietikon Local History Museum presents the city’s history and its connections with the monasteries of Zwiefalten and Wettingen. The exhibition covers the Roman period in Dietikon as well as one of the largest manor estates in northwestern Switzerland. Groups can visit the local history museum by arrangement.
City tours of Dietikon introduce and explain features from both the past and the present. A walking tour of the Limmatfeld district explores the history of its former industry and the development of the new neighbourhood. The history of the Zehntenscheune goes back further: its origins date to around 1600, and it belonged to Wettingen Monastery until 1841. The Zehntenscheune is intended to become a public event venue in the future.
Leisure Activities and Seasonal Experiences
The landscaped ChrĂĽzacher leisure area has an adventure playground where visitors can run around, climb, explore and relax. Birds, goats, donkeys, horses and rabbits are kept in various enclosures.
