Discover Bougy-Villars
Accommodation in Bougy-Villars
Bougy-Villars combines a village steeped in history with wine trails and a wide range of activities around Parc du Signal de Bougy. When planning your stay, it is worth keeping the village’s different sides in mind: its winegrowing tradition, the Balade des Capites, and the park’s nature and leisure activities.
Village history and wine landscape
The village features numerous farmhouses and winegrowers’ houses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries; some architectural elements date back to the 17th century. The village temple is a white building from 1934 with a slender bell tower. The wine estate now known as Riencourt is also part of the village’s history: its historic manor house has a wing facing the lake, the central section of which probably dates from the 15th century. From Bougy-Villars, the view stretches across the Lake Geneva basin and the Alps as far as Mont Blanc.
The municipality’s vineyard area covers approximately three hectares. The Féchy and Mont-sur-Rolle/Perroy appellations are particularly prominent in local winegrowing. Those interested can explore the Balade des Capites, a wine tourism trail. It starts in Bougy-Villars, in front of Cave Meylan, and leads to vineyard huts known as capites. Information panels and games introduce visitors to the local terroir and the work of winegrowers.
The trail is generally accessible; however, some interactive panels are not accessible to wheelchair users. Two stops can be visited freely and spontaneously. A terroir backpack can be booked in advance for the Balade, providing a tasting of local products along the way. The tour also includes a treasure hunt for children aged four and up. This is a way to combine the wine landscape with information, play stations and regional products, without requiring all these activities to follow the same format.
Nature and activities at Signal de Bougy
Parc Pré-Vert extends over 110 hectares. It offers views of Lake Geneva, the vineyards of La Côte and the Alps, as well as nature-based and sporting activities for families. The park and all the activities offered there are accessible to people with reduced mobility. The ten kilometres of paths are also accessible to everyone. An approved 18-hole mini-golf course adds to the outdoor activities.
The animal park at Signal de Bougy is home to 23 animal species across more than 17,000 square metres. Animals to see include Tibetan goats, donkeys, pigs, rabbits, ducks, chickens and turkeys. La Maison des animaux magiques features small mammals, insects and reptiles. At Les Ruches, you can learn about the lives of bees—from the dance of the foragers to honey production. These activities each have a different focus: observing animals, discovering small-scale habitats and learning about bees.
The other attractions also offer a range of experiences. Miniville is an imaginative play area with 24 immersive themed worlds for children aged one to six; play sessions last between 45 minutes and one hour and 30 minutes. Parc Aventure has 17 courses, including five reserved for children aged four to seven. The Jardin de Madame features 40 sculptures by artist Malbine. The Bain de Nature can be completed with the help of five introductory panels or four audio capsules. The open-air amphitheatre is dedicated to art and culture and can host performances.
Getting there and choosing your stay
Signal de Bougy Park can be reached on foot or by bicycle from Allaman station. The final stretch between Bougy-Villars and Signal de Bougy is relatively steep. By car, the park is a ten-minute drive from the A1 motorway. Take these details into account when choosing how to get there, and compare them with the activities you plan to enjoy during your stay.
Bougy-Villars offers plenty of ways to explore the area—from historic winegrowers’ houses and the Riencourt estate to trails, animal areas and play activities.
