Dalum brings together a long hiking trail, medieval buildings and a distinctive cultural landscape. Two perspectives therefore take centre stage when planning your trip: getting out on the Dalumsleden and taking a closer look at the area’s history. Protected nature, a bathing spot and traces carved in stone complete the picture. If you’re looking for a hotel in Dalum, these themes can help you match the character of the destination to your own travel interests.

Hiking the Dalumsleden

The Dalumsleden is a 34-kilometre nature and cultural trail around Dalum. Old crofts and back cottages lie along the route. The trail therefore combines hiking with traces of rural culture. There are also two wind shelters and several rest areas along the Dalumsleden. The 34 kilometres indicate the length of the trail; the rest areas and wind shelters point to specific places to take a break along the way.

Church, stones and medieval heritage

Dalum Church is an important landmark for the area’s architectural history. This Romanesque church dates from the 12th century and has a decorated chancel apse. Much of its medieval character has been preserved, including the original walls, the nave and the narrower chancel. Comparing the nave and chancel makes the building’s layout easy to see, while the decorated apse adds a distinctive architectural feature.

The churchyard of Dalum Church is also home to two rune stones and a lily stone. This makes it possible to explore the church and these stone monuments together in one place.

Another building is Vinsarp in Dalum, a medieval stone house and listed building from the 15th century. Public access is restricted, so bear this in mind when planning a visit. The Domarring in Dalum offers a different perspective on history: it is incomplete, and four stones are interpreted as part of a stone circle that has since been destroyed. Vinsarp is a dated building, while the Domarring is interpreted as an incomplete stone circle.
