Tollered combines a distinctive industrial townscape with activities on the water and various ways to explore the surrounding area on foot or on the water. When looking for a hotel in Tollered, it helps to consider in advance whether you want to focus your stay mainly on the town’s history, circular trails or lakes. Different conditions apply to individual visits: prior contact is required to visit the Power Station Museum, while guided tours of the industrial site can be booked year-round.

Industrial history in the townscape

Tollered’s historic townscape still includes factory buildings, homes, inns, shops, a clinic, a fire station and mills. Tollered Öfvre Power Station is industrial heritage and is managed by a museum association. If you would like to visit the museum, contact them by phone or email in advance. Guided tours of the Tollered industrial site can be booked year-round.

The rustic Smedjan forge dates from 1833 and has a stage and a bar. The Tollereds Bio Folkets Bio cinema is also part of the town’s cultural offerings; you’ll find it at Volrath Bergs väg 7. Fika is sold at the cinema café during the film intermission. As café policies may change, check them before your visit.

With the Nääs Fabriker app, you can explore Tollered on a self-guided historical tour. You’ll also encounter history in the townscape: signs provide information about the town’s history, and there are marked walking trails in Tollered.

Circular trails and hiking stages

Three circular trails start at Nääs Fabriker, with lengths of 3, 5.4 and 8 kilometres. The different distances give you options when planning your outing, without requiring you to assume a particular walking time. On the Gotaleden trail, Stage 7 from Tollered to Norsesund passes through forests and pastureland, and by old farmsteads and swimming lakes.

If you’re looking for a short route to the water from Sjölyckan, a walk of about 20 minutes takes you through Tollered to Lake Torskabotten. Alongside the circular trails at Nääs Fabriker and the longer Gotaleden stage, you can also choose from marked walking trails in town and this short connection to the lake.

Lakes, paddling and the Torskabotten bathing area

Canoe trips on Lake Sävelången can last about an hour or extend to a full-day outing. Sjölyckan is located by the lake in Tollered and offers a canoe station, raft trips and a raft for hire for trips on the lake. A fishing boat with an electric motor is also available to rent. It is advisable to confirm the individual Sjölyckan offerings before travelling. Kayaks can be rented seasonally at Nääs Fabriker.

There is a connected paddling system of eight lakes in the area around Tollered, including Torskabotten and Ömmern. The Torskabotten bathing area is in southern Tollered. It has swimming piers, a raft and ladders, as well as a barbecue area, waste bins and a dry toilet. The shoreline is sandy and grassy; benches with tables and parking spaces right next to the area complete the facilities.
