Lerum offers a variety of themes to consider when planning your trip: the river landscape in the Lerådalen Nature Reserve, the swimming area at Lake Aspen, gardens, and cultural and historical sites. Its distinctive features range from the valley and lake to places in the town center. You can tailor your stay to the things that interest you—for example, landscapes, gardens, contemporary art, or local history.

River Landscapes and Water

Lerådalen Nature Reserve is Lerum’s first municipal nature reserve. It lies in the open agricultural landscape between Lerum and Stenkullen. The Lerån valley within the reserve is a typical ravine landscape: the river meanders, and the ravine slopes are grazed. Together, the winding river and grazed slopes shape the character of the valley.

Aspen’s swimming area is in western Lerum, by Lake Aspen. It has a concrete jetty and a floating jetty with a diving tower. There is parking and bicycle parking nearby, and Aspedalen commuter train station is within walking distance. These features provide useful points of reference when planning, as well as access to the water.

The Lerån valley and the swimming area offer two different waterside landscapes: a meandering river in a ravine valley and a lake with a concrete jetty and a floating jetty with a diving tower.

Routes, Gardens, and Regional Hiking

Riddarsten in Lerum has a hilly, illuminated 2.5-kilometer loop. Its length, hilly route, and lighting give it a distinctive character that you can take into account when planning.

In the wider region, the Gotaleden is a 99-kilometer hiking trail between Gothenburg and Vårgårda in Västsverige. The trail is known for its natural scenery, stops close to towns, and proximity to train stations. Alongside the loop at Riddarsten, it offers a way to explore hiking in the wider area around Lerum.

Växtrum in Lerum comprises twelve unique visitor gardens created by Swedish garden professionals and dedicated local volunteers. Private guided walks are available in selected gardens. The walks can be tailored to visitors’ wishes and needs. The gardens and guided walks offer two different ways to experience Växtrum.

Culture and Practical Information

Dergårdens local heritage park is a historic site that recalls the agricultural buildings in the center of Lerum. Of Dergården’s original farm, only “John i Dergårdens stuga” remains. The site thus commemorates the agricultural buildings while preserving a specific part of the former farm.

The municipal Dergårdsgalleriet is in the center of Lerum, next to Lerum Library and Dergårdsteatern. Dergårdsgalleriet presents exhibitions of contemporary art. The technology and acoustics at Dergårdsteatern make it suitable for many different kinds of events. The gallery and theater therefore offer different cultural experiences in a central location.

There is parking for Lerum Cemetery below Lerum Church, at the entrances to the cemetery sections, and at the administration building. As parking arrangements may change, check them before you arrive.
