Dalsjöfors: Nature, Trails and Local History
Accommodation in Dalsjöfors
Dalsjöfors brings together nature, activities on the water, trails and local history as different focal points for a stay. Its varied landscape includes forest areas and open agricultural land. If you are looking for a hotel in Dalsjöfors, you can plan your trip around whether you prefer time by the lake, a route or historical subjects. The Rölle state nature reserve was established in 1982 and covers 8 hectares.
Lake Dalsjön and activities on the water
Lake Dalsjön is near Dalsjöfors and offers opportunities for swimming. Dalsjöns badplats has a small beach and a bathing jetty.
The Stora och Lilla Dalsjöns fiskevårdsområde fishing area is in Dalsjöfors, east of Borås. Both regular fishing permits and crayfish permits are available. If fishing is part of your plans, the area and the two types of permit are specific points to consider when planning. This makes it possible to distinguish this focus on the water from a stay centred on swimming.
Trails with different features
The municipal trail description, updated on 27 June 2025, lists the signposted Dalsjön runt loop; it follows gravel paths along the lakeshore. The purple Dalsjöhov trail starts at Dalsjöhallen/Dalsjöbadet and passes the Slättåsgrillen barbecue area by Lake Stora Dalsjön. The paved Banvallen route between Gånghester and Ulricehamn has a starting point in Dalsjöfors Övrarp.
The trails offer different points to consider when choosing: Dalsjön runt is described in terms of its lakeside route and gravel surface, Dalsjöhov by its starting point and barbecue area, and Banvallen by its paved surface and place names. Consider whether you are more interested in the lakeside loop, a named trail waypoint or the paved route and the places it passes.
Local history and visitor information
There were four small watermills between the outlet of Lake Dalsjön and the country road from Toarp Church towards Skenstad from the 17th century onwards. Dalsjöfors Väfveri Aktiebolag was founded in 1897. These two details offer different perspectives on local history: the mills are located by reference to their surroundings and a historical period, while the company is associated with a single year of establishment. You can therefore consider the mills and the company’s founding as two separate subjects.
The Almedahls Museum in Dalsjöfors can be visited by prior booking and during events. Bear these conditions in mind if you include the museum in your travel plans.
Note about Dalsjöbadet
According to a notice updated on 2 June 2026, Dalsjöbadet is closed for renovation until autumn 2028. The facility’s sports hall and youth centre remain open. When planning, take into account the difference between the swimming facility and these two facilities, which remain open.
