Those who choose Nordingra for its culture, landscapes and outdoor activities can include a range of themes in their travel plans. The church sites tell stories of different eras, while trails and natural landmarks each have their own distinctive features. Some tours specify their distance, duration and difficulty. If you’re interested in seasonal visitor services, it’s worth checking the latest details before your trip.

Churches and cultural heritage

Nordingrå Church was completed in 1825. Today, the ruins of its medieval predecessor stand east of the church, with the oldest parts dating from the early 13th century. Here you’ll find two clearly distinct building phases: the church completed in 1825 and the remains of the older predecessor.

The Kyrkstallarna in Nordingrå comprises twelve church stables, now located along the old road to Vågsfjärden. In the past, churchgoers used the stables when they rode to church on horseback. They are the only surviving church stables in the entire Kramfors parish. Their former purpose reveals a different aspect of church life than the history of the two churches: it shows how visitors used to travel to church and shelter their horses.

Mannaminne is an art and cultural village in Nordingrå. It includes around 50 buildings and vehicles from all over the world. The mix of buildings and vehicles makes the collection more varied than an exhibition of buildings alone. If you’re interested in different forms of art and culture, Mannaminne is a destination in its own right to include in your travel plans.

Coast and nature

Rotsidan is a four-kilometre stretch of coastline with flat diabase rock formations, worn smooth by the sea. The length of the stretch and the shape of the rock give the place a clearly defined landscape theme. If you enjoy taking note of coastal formations when you travel, you’ll find a striking example here of how rock type and the sea’s influence combine.

The plant life offers another special point of interest: twelve of Nordingrå’s fourteen orchid species grow in Halsviksravinen. For nature enthusiasts, the ravine is defined above all by its orchid flora. At the municipal level, ten of Kramfors’s seventeen nature reserves are located in Nordingrå. This figure puts the area’s importance in the wider context of the municipality, while still leaving room to focus on individual places such as Rotsidan or Halsviksravinen.

Högbonden has been a classic lighthouse site since 1909 and is also a nature reserve. There is a hostel in the lighthouse area. An excursion boat operated by Höga Kusten-Båtarna travels to Högbonden from Barsta or Bönhamn. Since boat services are seasonal, check the latest travel options before your trip.

Hiking trails and viewpoints

The Omneleden is a moderately difficult 5.2-kilometre circular trail. It starts at Omnebadet and takes about three hours. Its length, approximate duration and difficulty give you several concrete criteria for planning this hike. The Världsarvsleden runs for 14 Swedish miles through the landscape of Nordingrå, offering a different scale for anyone considering a longer route.

Another trail starts at Mannaminne and climbs steeply to the summit of Stortorget. The Stortorget viewpoint is 135 metres above sea level. In comparison with the circular trail at Omnebadet, different features stand out: for the Omneleden, an approximate duration and moderate difficulty are specified; here, it’s the steep trail and the height of the viewpoint. These details help you assess the routes described according to their time commitment and character.
