Nordvik – Agriculture, Nature and Activities
Accommodation in Nordvik
Nordvik offers several specific themes to consider when planning a stay: agricultural education, the forest and water landscape, and bookable activities involving horses, dogs, and plants. If you’re looking for a hotel in Nordvik, these different highlights can help shape your daily plans.
Agriculture, the Farm, and Education
Nordvikskolan has offered agricultural education at the same location since 1868. The Naturbruksprogrammet in Nordvik currently includes four specializations: horse management, horticulture, animal care, and agriculture. This brings together a long educational tradition and four specific fields of study.
Nordvik Restaurant also has ties to the farm: the chefs prepare dishes from scratch, using, among other things, produce from the farm in Nordvik. Breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake, and dinner are served, including to non-residents. As service hours may change, check the current times before visiting. The agricultural connection thus extends from the educational offering to the ingredients used in the restaurant.
Nordvik’s conference rooms offer views of the farm’s animal enclosures and Norafjärden.
Hamptjärnen and Norafjärden
Hamptjärnen in Nordvik is an idyllic forest pond with a barbecue area. If you plan to use the barbecue area, check its current condition before your visit. On the way back from Hamptjärnen, you can enjoy a view across Norafjärden. As trail conditions may change, check them before setting out.
Horse Riding and Dog Activities
At Nordvik’s riding facilities, you can book a single riding session without exclusive use of the riding arena or indoor riding hall. For group riding, you can instead book the entire indoor riding hall or the large outdoor riding arena. The options differ in how the facilities are used: one session without exclusive use, or an entire area for groups. Availability and booking terms may change; check them before making plans.
The dog training hall and other facilities can be booked for dog activities. The dog training hall has equipment for agility, obstacles for working dog sports, Hoopers, rally obedience, and nosework training. If you have a specific type of training in mind, ask specifically about the equipment for it. As equipment and availability may change, check what is currently available before booking.
On the Water, on Foot, and in the Greenhouse
Guided canoe tours are offered on Norafjärden. Hikes to one of Erik Daniel’s cabins are also offered from Nordvik. The activities differ in format: a guided tour on the water or a hike to a cabin. Trail conditions may change for the hike; check them before setting out.
Individual planting tables in Nordvik’s summer greenhouse can be rented for the entire growing season. The offering is seasonal; the growing season and availability may change. If you’re planning for a specific period, check in advance whether a planting table will be available then.
