Accommodation in Kramfors
The municipality of Kramfors is centrally located in the High Coast. When planning your stay, Kramfors offers several themes to explore: architectural history and art, trails along the Kramforsån, and seasonal winter activities. These destinations vary in character and, in some cases, in their conditions. You can weigh up whether changing exhibitions, a trail in town or activities in the surrounding area are most important to you.
Architectural history and changing art exhibitions
Gudmundrå Church has a clearly defined architectural history: construction began in 1799, and the church was inaugurated on 27 September 1801. It also houses a medieval limestone baptismal font from the older church. This brings together two different periods: the construction phase around the turn of the 19th century and a baptismal font from an older church.
Kramfors Art Gallery showcases contemporary art and crafts by professional artists. A new exhibition is shown there almost every month. If a particular exhibition is important to your trip, check the current exhibition dates in advance. Sandö Glassworks Museum is located in the centre of Kramfors. Together, these venues offer different cultural points of interest: changing exhibitions at the art gallery and a museum in the town centre.
Trails in town and the surrounding area
The 4 km Hälsans stig trail runs along the Kramforsån, through the Uttern/Vesslan residential area, towards Flogsta and through the centre. The information about its route and length gives you specific reference points for planning a walk in town. There is also an outdoor gym near the trail. You can therefore consider the route and the fitness facility as different ways to stay active.
In the surrounding area, the Icktjärnsberget nature reserve has several circular hiking trails; in winter, groomed cross-country ski trails are available there. Jättestabodarna is also nearby. There are buildings from a summer farm, as well as a small hay meadow and a shelter at a viewpoint. The place is also historically connected to the village of Jättesta: in the past, its livestock was brought to Jättestabodarna to graze in summer.
Winter activities and fishing
When there is enough snow, a cross-country ski trail is prepared around Kramfors IP in the centre of Kramfors. The groomed cross-country ski trails at Icktjärnsberget in the surrounding area offer another winter option. One condition is important when choosing: the trail at Kramfors IP is prepared only when there is enough snow.
Fishing is also possible in the Icktjärn Nature Reserve near Kramfors with a fishing permit valid for 12 hours. If you plan to go fishing, you can take the permit’s validity period into account.
Getting around and a local speciality
Train and bus services are brought together at Kramfors Travel Centre. It is the public transport hub for the entire municipality, connecting urban and rural areas with nearby towns, municipalities and regions. Facilities include seating, toilets and somewhere to get food and drink. The travel centre provides a useful reference point for public transport when arriving or continuing your journey. Check the current timetable before travelling.
Kramforskaka is another local point of interest: in Kramfors, this is the name for a chocolatey slice cake. If you are interested in local terms and food culture, the name is a small speciality you can associate with the municipality.
