Discover Kista
Accommodation in Kista
Kista offers a variety of reasons to visit: a neighbourhood park with activities for adults and children, local art and history, and options for culture, sports and entertainment. If you’re looking for a hotel, it helps to decide on the purpose of your trip first. Attending a conference raises different questions from going to the cinema or exploring Kista’s history. The places below offer specific ideas to help you plan; check dates, showtimes and booking details in advance if needed.
Park, art and local history
Kistagårdsparken is a neighbourhood park with activities for adults and children. It draws inspiration from the cultural and historical setting of Kista gård, whose origins date back to the 18th century. The bronze sculpture “Lindarnas anatomi” by Christine Ödlund stands along the park’s avenue of fruit trees. There is also a runestone in front of Kista gård bearing the names of four of Kista’s earliest known residents.
Church, art and architecture
Kista kyrka was inaugurated on 1 October 1978 and designed by Zoltan Bedecs. The old Välling bell from Kista gård hangs outside the church space; it rings for smaller weekday services. The inauguration date and the architect offer a specific reference point for the building’s history, while the bell connects the church with the history of Kista gård. “Stenkvinna” is a public artwork in Kista, created by Olle Nyman in 1977 from concrete and granite. The materials clearly distinguish the two artworks: “Lindarnas anatomi” is made of bronze, while “Stenkvinna” is made of concrete and granite. Kista Bibliotek covers 2,400 square metres and is considered Stockholm’s second-largest library.
Conferences and leisure activities
Kista Science Tower is 124 metres tall and Stockholm’s tallest office building. It also serves as a conference venue. If you’re travelling to Kista for a conference, the tower may be relevant to your plans; check the specific event dates.
Kista Galleria offers a cinema, bowling, shuffleboard, arcades, laser tag and VR experiences. Individual offerings may change. Filmstaden Kista is a cinema in the mall with digital sound, a large screen and digital projectors in every auditorium. Showtimes and facilities may change; check current listings before planning a specific cinema visit. O’Learys Kista Event Center offers bowling and go-karting. Kista Racket Center has ten badminton courts; rackets can be rented or purchased. Activities and operating details at the event center, as well as bookings and availability at the racket center, may change. Checking the latest information can help if you’re planning to include one of these activities in your itinerary.
Find a hotel based on your reason for travelling
Decide which activity will shape your stay. For a business trip, the Science Tower’s conference facilities may be relevant; for a cultural or leisure itinerary, you could focus on art, the church, the library, the cinema or badminton. Then compare the specific location details and booking conditions for your travel dates.
