Perstorp: Discover Culture, History and Nature
Accommodation in Perstorp
Plastens Hus tells the story of plastics through landmark products; forests, ponds and hilly terrain shape Perstorp’s landscape. Culture, history and nature appear here in many forms—from the church and historical collections to cycling routes and circular hiking trails.
Churches, Collections and Industrial History
Perstorp Church dates back to the 12th century. Its freestanding bell tower dates back to the 16th century. Together, the church and tower represent two different periods in the town’s history.
At Plastens Hus, the history of plastics is presented through landmark products. The chronologically arranged exhibition focuses on plastics and the environment; there is also a children’s corner. The collection spans everything from historic buildings to the development of a material that has shaped everyday life.
Perstorp’s local heritage museum, Perstorps hembygdsgård, dates back to the 17th century and houses an extensive collection of old household items. The Henrikstorp glassworks, also known as Skånska glasbruket, is part of the area’s industrial history: Göran Pielman founded it in 1692, and it burned down in 1762. It was never rebuilt. These dates tell the story of the glassworks’ beginnings and end, while the collection at the local heritage museum offers a glimpse of everyday items from the past.
Hagstad is also connected with a cultural figure. Artur Lundkvist’s birthplace is now used as a writing retreat for writers and artists. It houses a permanent exhibition about Lundkvist, dating from 1986, as well as an exhibition about Maria Wine, dating from 2003.
Forests, Water and Trails
Perstorp has hilly terrain with beech, coniferous and mixed forests. Ponds with diverse waterside and aquatic vegetation add to the landscape. Uggleskogen is home to trees that grew in the 18th century, as well as several species of woodpecker.
The Perstorpssjöarna runt circular trail passes through parks near the settlement, quiet forest clearings and open lakeside landscapes. It returns to the town of Perstorp and offers opportunities to observe birds in parks, forests and by the water. The route thus connects different types of landscape on a loop that leads back to Perstorp.
For cycling, Cykelleden Skåne passes through Perstorp. The cycling network covers 570 kilometres in total, with nature, cultural, accommodation and dining experiences along the routes. The Perstorp–Klippan section is 22.9 kilometres long. Along this cycling route, historic landscapes take you past cottages and milestones. Check the latest route information before setting off.
