Ängelholm was founded in 1516 at the mouth of the Rönne å. Railway and aviation history, Swedish and Nordic art, and outdoor trails and activities reveal different sides of the town. When planning your visit, you can focus on museums and exhibitions or make time for a walk or bike ride.

Railway history and aviation

At Järnvägens Museum, railway history comes to life with a large model railway: trains travel between buildings typical of different eras. A simulator compares three ways of travelling—a horse-drawn carriage, a steam train from around 1900, and an X2000 train. Visitors can also borrow a discovery bag containing various aids and support materials during their museum visit.

Järnvägens Museum is only a few minutes’ walk from Ängelholm station. From there, an accessible boardwalk leads into the forest. Ängelholms Flygmuseum is an air defence museum for aviation enthusiasts and the general public of all ages. Aircraft on display include models ranging from the J 22 to the JAS 39 Gripen; they were all in service with the squadron. Three different flight simulators complement the exhibits. As of 25 August 2026, the museum had been closed for renovation since 1 September 2025. The stated closure period ran until autumn 2026; however, a reopening date had not yet been set. Check the current visitor status before planning a visit.

Art, exhibitions and local history

Galleri Moment showcases contemporary Swedish and Nordic art. Exhibitions at Gamla Rådhuset change and cover art, photography, crafts, handicrafts, upcycling and other subjects. Kronohäktet is a historic building in the centre of Ängelholm. It hosts talks, exhibitions, music rehearsals and other creative activities; the programme may vary.

Along the shopping street, black diabase stones bear the names of eleven well-known Ängelholm residents. The list may grow. These names in public spaces add another way to engage with the town alongside its historic and artistic attractions.

Trails through forest and town

Kronoskogen has marked walking trails ranging from 2.8 to 10 kilometres, as well as a designated mountain biking area. One specific circular route is Ottos runda: this year-round trail is 10 kilometres long and passes through Kronoskogen and along the Rönne å. Starting points are at Stortorget or the tourist office.

For cycling, the 16-kilometre Lergöksrundan offers another route option. It runs by the sea, through Kronoskogen and through the Ängelholm urban area. Nybroleden, in turn, follows the river through broadleaf woodland with gnarled oaks and large beeches. This gives you a choice of trails of different lengths and through varied landscapes, without any one route combining all these features.

Parks and activities

Admission to Pytteskogen is free, and the park is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Hembygdsparken has five museums. Nearby, Upzone Ängelholm offers high ropes courses, ziplines, team challenges and outdoor escape games. These activities add an active element to a stay that also includes exhibitions.

Ängelholm’s skatepark is a modern concrete facility with bowl and street areas. Its features include banks, ledges, rails, manual pads, stairs and quarters. If you need discs, you can borrow them for free from Fritidsbanken Ängelholm.

Practical information for your stay

During the summer season, Pyttetåget runs between Ängelholm station, Stortorget and Hembygdsparken and back. Check that the seasonal service is currently running before you travel. Ängelholm Tourist Centre provides information, inspiration and personal advice, sells tickets for events, and stocks locally made gifts and souvenirs. As these visitor services may change, it is a good idea to check the latest information if you have a specific need.

Rönne-Å-Rännet is an annual canoe competition. The programme includes 200-metre races, canoe polo and long-distance races over 2.5 to 20 kilometres. If you are planning a trip around the event, check the dates for the relevant edition.
