Churches from Different Centuries

Vederslövs gamla kyrka is a typical medieval church in the Romanesque style. Its interior retains furnishings from the 17th and 18th centuries. Two periods come together here: the medieval church building and the later interior furnishings. The old church is mainly used during the summer months; contact the parish office for information about opening hours.

Vederslövs kyrka was built in the 1870s and is among the best-preserved, least-altered 19th-century churches in the district. There is a ramp at the north side entrance; the church also has an accessible toilet and a hearing loop. For visitors who need any of these features, they provide practical points to consider when planning a visit.

Cultural Landscape and Burial Ground

Vederslöv is picturesquely situated by Lake Vederslöv. The area’s early role as a centre of power and a parish is often reflected in the landscape. The Vederslöv area includes parts of the village’s agricultural cultural landscape. The fields are scattered across a ridge and are often bordered by leafy pastureland. In addition to the buildings, the distribution of fields and pastureland shapes the view of the cultural landscape. Vidars kullar is a burial ground with 20 graves, adding an archaeological dimension to the churches and the agriculturally shaped cultural landscape.

Landscapes in Osaby Nature Reserve

At Osaby, all agricultural land and 130 hectares of forest are part of the nature reserve. The reserve includes the shores of Lake Vederslöv, meadows and pastureland, wetlands, deciduous and coniferous forests, as well as oak pastures. The mix of lakeshores, open areas, wetlands and different types of forest shows that the landscape is not limited to woodland.

The two landscapes have different defining features: Vederslöv is characterised by scattered fields on the ridge and leafy pastureland; in Osaby Nature Reserve, the range of landscape features extends from shores and wetlands to deciduous and coniferous forests. This allows you to distinguish between an agriculturally shaped cultural landscape and a nature reserve with a variety of landscape types.

Hiking in Osaby Nature Reserve

The hiking trails in Osaby Nature Reserve start at the information board by the car park. The blue-marked Sjöslingan is 4 km long; the yellow-marked Hagmarksslingan is just over 4 km. The routes are similar in length, with only Hagmarksslingan exceeding four kilometres. The starting point, trail colour and length provide practical points of reference when choosing your route.
