Strömsnäsbruk offers several different starting points for a stay: its railway history, a number of trails and the outdoor pool. If you are looking for a hotel, these interests can be a first guide for planning your trip. The town’s history can be explored at the railway station; the trail descriptions vary in terms of terrain, route and notable landmarks.

Railway History in Strömsnäsbruk

The Skåne-Smålands Järnvägsförening was founded in Strömsnäsbruk on 28 May 1986. Its aim was to preserve the former railway environment along the Skåne-Smålands Järnväg. The line ran from Kärreberga in Skåne to Värnamo in Småland; the preservation effort covered the railway vehicles as well as the buildings. The history the association is concerned with therefore extends beyond a single station and encompasses a corridor between two regions.

Today, the association owns the station buildings and engine sheds, along with the surrounding properties, in both Strömsnäsbruk and Traryd. The station grounds in Strömsnäsbruk are home to a steam locomotive and a replica passenger car from the former Strömsnäs–Delaryd narrow-gauge railway. Its unusual track gauge was 643 mm. The locomotive and replica car bring railway technology to life through tangible objects.

Walking and Hiking Trails

Near Graalstugan, which is run by Sportklubben Graal, there is a lit circular trail about 2.5 kilometres long. It passes through gently rolling terrain on soft ground and is surrounded by forest. Its length, lighting and ground conditions give you specific details to help plan your walk, without indicating how long it will take or how difficult it is.

The Kvarnaholmsrundan is a hiking trail around Lake Hammarsjön in Strömsnäsbruk. On the west side, it leads to Kvarnaholms kraftverk; from there, the trail continues through town on the way back. The route thus includes both a lakeside section and a further stretch through Strömsnäsbruk.

The Kylhultsrundan starts at Strömsnäsbadet. From there, it continues through the forest and emerges above the Strömsborg sports ground. Hälsans stig can also start at Strömsnäsbadet; the walk passes Scoutstugan. These descriptions therefore name the outdoor pool as a possible starting point and highlight different landmarks along the way.

Strömsnäsbadet and Other Places to Visit

Strömsnäsbadet is a popular outdoor pool. During the summer season, it offers opportunities for play, exercise and relaxation. The grounds have water slides, four outdoor showers and a large grassy area for relaxing and playing. As the pool is seasonal, it is a good idea to check the latest information before planning a swim.

In Axhult, there is a rest area with a barbecue and a toilet. Along with the different trails and the seasonal outdoor pool, this offers a range of interests to consider when planning your visit: railway history, a walk or a hike along one of the trails. Before setting out, also check the current local conditions for your planned route.
