A trip to Rågö and exploring by kayak on your own offer different ways to experience the area on the water. Guest moorings in Loftahammar are clearly marked; advance booking is not required.

Walking and cycling routes

There are hiking trails in Loftahammar. The Loftahammar Xrundan is about 2.7 kilometres long and runs over asphalt, grassy paths and an exercise loop. The Lofthammars cykelrunda starts in the centre of Loftahammar. It passes through deep forests and across open fields, with views over the landscape. The two routes differ in their mode of travel and scenery: the Xrundan is defined by its length and surface, while the cycling route starts in the town centre and takes in forests, open fields and views of the landscape.

Local history and culture

The church interior of Loftahammars kyrka was completed in 1760; the church was consecrated in 1764. The Wahlberg organ, built in 1767, remains in its original location and is almost in its original condition. The tower was built between 1775 and 1777. These dates therefore refer to different events: the completion of the church interior, the consecration, the construction of the organ and the construction of the tower.

Historically, Loftahammar’s livelihoods were fishing and farming. Around the turn of the century, people travelled to Loftahammar and Källviks brunn to enjoy the sea air and relax. The town’s history thus encompasses both these occupations and travel for recreation. Svanhuset is an art gallery in Loftahammar that exhibits works by local and international artists. Check the opening arrangements before visiting.
