For visitors, the area combines this landscape with different ways to explore the surroundings: local trails, longer hiking routes, a municipal swimming spot and historical points of interest. If you are looking for a hotel in Hjorted, you can choose a place to stay based on the themes you would like to shape your visit.

Forests, lakes and trails around Hjorted

The lake, forest and hills give Hjorted a distinctive landscape. Small lakes are part of the surroundings, as is the hilly woodland. This makes it a destination whose character can be explored both on the water and in the wooded landscape. The different trails and hikes each offer a different focus, from a loop in Hjorted to routes through the parish or sections of a longer long-distance trail.

Loops and hikes

The Hjorted Xrundan starts at Generationsparken, runs counterclockwise and is about 2.1 kilometres long. It follows asphalt and gravel paths. The distance and surface provide two specific points to consider when planning this loop. Check the route’s current status before setting out.

Behind the school in Hjorted is a natural area with a short fitness trail. Trail conditions can change, so take this into account when planning. In addition, Hjorteds hembygdsförening organises hikes through different parts of Hjorted Parish in spring and autumn. These follow traces of settlement. The seasonal hikes combine time on the trail with a perspective explicitly focused on the history of the area.

For a longer route, the second stage of Tjustleden runs from Getgölen in the south to Svarteström in the north, passing through Hjorted, among other places. It is about 18 kilometres long, and there is also the option of connecting to Ankarsrumsslingan. By contrast, Rundslinga Hjorted is a suggested route that partly follows Stage 2 before returning to Hjorted. It is 18.1 kilometres long. Although the distances are similar, they refer to different routes: the stage has its own endpoints, while the loop returns to Hjorted.

Swimming spot and getting your bearings

The municipal swimming spot in Hjorted, Hjorteds badplats (Hjorten), has a barbecue area, changing rooms and a toilet. This makes the swimming spot a practical addition to your plans. When planning a swim, you can take advantage of the barbecue area, changing rooms and toilet all in one place.

The local grocery store is also a useful landmark: it also serves as a municipal service point. Visitors can get information there from the municipality and about nearby places to visit. So, if you want to find out more while you are there, the store combines everyday shopping with an opportunity to get information about Hjorted and places to visit in the surrounding area.

Church and local history

Hjorteds kyrka, also known as Sofia Magdalena kyrka, was built from 1775 to 1778 and consecrated in 1780. The construction period and year of consecration mark different stages: building work continued over several years, with the consecration following afterwards. The church village, which developed at the northern end of the bridge in Hjorted, offers another connection to the area’s history.

The moped museum in Hjorted is permanently closed, and its entire collection was auctioned off. Do not plan to visit it as an active attraction. The church, swimming spot and various trails offer other specific ways to get to know Hjorted.
