Discover Norrahammar
Accommodation in Norrahammar
Norrahammar offers different starting points for planning a trip: a hiking stage, the Åsabadet bathing area, and buildings and places with industrial and local history. You can decide what to focus on according to your interests, whether you want outdoor activities or the history of the area to shape your stay. These differences are especially clear at SV3, Åsabadet, and the buildings of Folkets hus, the church and Bruket.
Hiking stage, beach and outdoor activities
The SV3 stage between Norrahammar and Strömsberg can be extended via the Tabergsrundan. Åsabadet has a lovely sandy beach with bathing jetties. There are also picnic tables, toilets and parking, as well as the Norrahammar Åsabadet bus stop. The beach, jetties and facilities give you a clear picture of the bathing area and help you factor it into your trip plans.
There are also historical milestones for other activities: a mountain biking trail was built at Åsabadet in 2018. That same year, a skate park was built by Norrahammar station. Both details refer to construction projects at the time and describe different activities and locations.
Buildings and local history
Norrahammars Folkets hus stands on the northern slope of Brudakullen and offers views across the Tabergsån valley. The building was completed in 1927. It was preceded by almost twenty years of fundraising and extensive volunteer work by the workers of Norrahammar. The history of the building thus includes both its location and the long-standing community effort that came before its completion.
Norrahammars kyrka has a different architectural character: the yellow wooden church has a high shingle roof and a red bell tower. Its history can be traced through two milestones. In 1930, it became the community’s own chapel; in 1943, with the founding of the Norrahammar parish, it became the parish church. The dates mark the change in its ecclesiastical function, while the roof, materials and tower define its exterior.
Industrial history in Norrahammar
The Norrahammars Industri- & Bygdemuseum presents the area’s industrial development from the mid-19th century to the present day. The Radiomuseet is a separate section of the museum. Its subject therefore covers a long span of development, while the Radiomuseet is identified as a distinct part.
Another specific part of the area’s industrial history is Bruket i Norrahammar. In the 19th century, Wilhelm Spångberg built a foundry and machining factory there. The surviving historic industrial buildings have been converted into a meeting place with shops, culture and inspiration. The buildings’ former industrial use and their later transformation are thus both part of the area’s character.
There is a named stop to help you find the museum: Norrahammars Industri- & Bygdemuseum is about 200 metres from the Norrahammar Folkes Hus bus stop. Routes 27 and 28 between Jönköping and Norrahammar stop there. The approximate distance and route information give you a specific reference point when adding a museum visit to your trip plans.
