Distances within the town are short; accommodation, shops, activities and the railway station can often be reached on foot or by bicycle. Activities focus on different things: mountain bike trails and pump tracks, nature and wildlife experiences, culture, and seasonal activities on the water and in the snow. Consider which of these matter most for your trip, and take the town’s layout into account when making your choice.

Cycling: trails and pump tracks

There are mountain bike trails around Järvsö, built by Cykla Järvsö AB. The trails are suitable for families, groups and experienced mountain bikers; the trail network continues to develop. One specific trail with its own distinctive features is the blue Barbro trail in Järvsö Bergscykel Park. It is machine-built and has jumps with flat tabletops: beginners can roll over them, while experienced riders can jump them. When planning, you can distinguish between a trail network catering to different groups and the features described for a particular trail.

Centrally located Järvsö Skills Park is free for everyone. It has two pump tracks: one with a bowl in the middle and a dual pump track where riders can race against each other. There is also an area for skills practice. Features of the Barbro trail may change as the park develops; information about the Skills Park facilities may also change.

Nature and trails

At Vildriket, visitors can get close to Nordic wildlife in a natural, peaceful setting. The animals live in natural habitats designed with their welfare in mind. Vildriket is almost in the centre of Järvsö; it is just under one kilometre on foot from the railway station. Animal presentations and opening arrangements may change.

Another nature experience is the easy trail on Kyrkön. It starts at S:t Persgården and ends just under two kilometres later at the old bridge abutment by Sockenstuga. Check trail conditions and access locally. A three-kilometre route to Kramstatjärn is listed as another option for planning a hike; Spårcentralens parkering is the associated parking area. Route details and trail conditions may change.

Järvsö Gårdsbageri is another place with historical connections: the bakery, café and restaurant are located in the active Hälsingegård Långhans, whose origins date back to the 17th century. Visitor offerings and opening arrangements may change.

Seasonal activities

Tours on the River Ljusnan in Järvsö are offered for rafting, kayaking, whitewater kayaking, riverboarding and SUP. Water activities are generally seasonal. If they are important for your trip, check tour dates for your planned travel period.

In winter, there is the Järvsö elljusspår: a centrally located, gently hilly 2.5-kilometre cross-country ski trail groomed with artificial snow. It is below Vildriket and Bergshotellet. Snow conditions and trail availability are seasonal. Switching between summer water activities and an artificial-snow ski trail offers different planning options; adjust your expectations to your travel dates and the conditions at the time.
