If you’re looking for a hotel in Tres Cantos, it’s worth exploring the city’s varied landscapes and leisure options. These include a natural area near the center, large parks, hiking and cycling routes, and cultural venues. You can tailor your stay to whether you want to observe nature, spend time outdoors, or include culture in your plans.

Nature and Parks in Tres Cantos

Valdeloshielos is very close to the city center. This natural area has high ecological value and rich biodiversity. Holm oaks and broom grow there in particular, and the area is also a natural habitat for wild boar. Birds of various species are easy to spot. Valdeloshielos therefore offers a different natural setting from the city’s landscaped parks.

Parque Central covers 45 hectares and has a large artificial lake where various fish and bird species live. The park’s Jardín Temático features twelve types of gardens, including rose gardens, palm groves, beds of herbaceous plants, climbing plants, bamboo, conifers, aromatic plants, and a rock garden. The lake and themed garden offer distinct highlights: aquatic habitats sit alongside a diverse garden design.

Parque Este is laid out as a 60-hectare woodland park and runs along the wall of Monte de Viñuelas. Small paths invite you to stroll, while a cycling path runs around the entire perimeter. Unlike Parque Central, which is defined by its lake and themed garden, Parque Este focuses on woodland and paths. These differences can help you decide how to include Tres Cantos’s natural areas and green spaces in your plans.

On Foot, by Bike, and on Longer Routes

The Ecoturismo por Tres Cantos initiative features five nature-focused routes for hiking and cycling, ranging from five to 21 kilometers in length. Another specific option is an 11-kilometer family route: it follows the third section of the Camino de Santiago de Madrid, runs along the Arroyo Tejada through gently rolling pastureland, and ends in Colmenar Viejo.

For a longer connection, the linear 24-kilometer RL12 route of the Arco Verde runs from Hoyo de Manzanares via Puente de la Marmota to the Valdeloshielos area in Tres Cantos. The family route can be identified by its length and endpoint, while RL12 connects several named places over a longer distance. On RL12, Tres Cantos station is less than 300 meters east of the Valdeloshielos parking area. The station is located in the municipality of the same name and is served by Cercanías Madrid line C-4.

Outdoor Activities and Cultural Venues

For BMX riding, Bike Park Tres Cantos has several purpose-built courses. Mounds, ramps, and bends are designed for jumps and tricks. This sets these courses apart from the paths in Parque Este, whose cycling path runs around the entire park perimeter.

The artificial lake in Parque Central is also used for sports: the Club de Piragüismo offers courses there in kayak polo, stand-up paddleboarding, paddle surfing, and canoeing. If you’re interested in different ways to spend time outdoors, Tres Cantos offers both paths and routes, as well as activities on the water.

The cultural program includes venues with different capacities and uses. One venue with 135 seats hosts concerts and recitals; rehearsals and classes for the municipal music school are also held there, along with rehearsals for the Coral Santa Teresa choir. A 385-seat venue offers performances throughout the year across various performing arts, including theater, dance, and concerts. Since December 19, 2001, the exhibition hall has been dedicated to the tricantino painter Juan María Vendrell Sanromá.
