Vilabella lies on the right bank of the deeply incised Gaià River, which also forms the municipality’s eastern boundary. Several of the routes described include the river in their course; others lead to a named tower or connect Vilabella with other places. You can choose a tour according to its destination, format and the activity mentioned.

Architecture in the village

The Casal de la Família Castellví, popularly known as Cal Cristí, is considered an important example of civil Renaissance architecture. The term refers to Renaissance architecture in the secular sphere and adds an architectural theme to Vilabella’s landscape attractions. For travellers who consider not only routes but also a destination’s cultural character when choosing where to visit, the Casal is a specific point of interest. The name Cal Cristí also helps you identify the building by its commonly used name.

Walking routes

The route from Vilabella to Torre del Moro starts in Vilabella. It passes Els Set Ponts on the Gaià and Molí del Mig, then climbs to Torre del Moro, also known as Torre de Montferri. The route description links named stops by the river and at the mill with a clear destination. The explicitly described climb is also one of the route’s characteristics and helps distinguish it from a circular route along the Gaià.

A circular route from Vilabella to Salomó starts near Vilabella’s schools. It passes Els Set Ponts on the Gaià and goes through wooded areas towards Salomó, returning to Vilabella by a different path. The return to Vilabella and the alternative way back shape the route. It therefore connects a starting point near the schools with the route via Salomó, rather than ending at a named tower.

The five-kilometre circular route along the Gaià starts on the road from Salomó and passes Siete Puentes, Molino del Medio, the Gatell caves and the Molinet road. The distance gives you a specific indication of the loop’s length; the named stops help you navigate along the river. A guided walk is also available on this Gaià circular route if you book it through the town hall. Confirm availability before travelling if you plan to take this option.

Other routes and destinations

A 17.6-kilometre route runs from Santes Creus via Aiguamúrcia, Pont del Gaià, Vila-rodona and Bràfim to Vilabella. It is suitable for cycling or running and has an elevation change of 94 metres. Unlike the circular routes described, this one starts in Santes Creus and ends in Vilabella. Its length, elevation change and the activities mentioned give you specific criteria for including this connection in your tour plans.

Cova Fonda is in the municipality of Salomó, but is more easily accessed from Vilabella. It is about 286 metres long. The cave’s location and access from Vilabella are two distinct points of reference: it belongs to the municipality of Salomó, while the described access from Vilabella is easier.
