Sant Jaume D'enveja combines cycling routes with waterside experiences, opportunities to observe nature and insights into the history of the Delta. When choosing a hotel, it may help to decide first what you want your trip to focus on: cycling, activities on the river, or local culture. The different options offer practical guidance.

Cycling routes of different lengths

The official Sant Jaume d'Enveja–Els Muntells–Eucaliptus circular route is 19.3 kilometres long and takes about three hours. Another option is the Via Verda to the river mouth: it is suitable for cycling and is 14 kilometres long. These distances and the approximate duration help you estimate the scope of a tour without treating the two figures as equivalent.

The CamĂ de Sirga starts at Lo Passador and runs for 8.7 kilometres to the river mouth. Along the way, there are rest areas and small platforms on the riverbank intended for fishing and observation. Lo Passador itself is also a convenient reference point for cyclists: its 250-metre route has a cycle lane and a rest area.

A horseback ride with Equidelta offers a different view of the rice fields. The route goes to Mas Illa de Riu and then returns towards Sant Jaume d'Enveja along the Paseo Fluvial. Equidelta also offers pony activities. This means your trip plans can include horse-riding options as well as the cycling routes described above.

Water, the Delta landscape and birdwatching

The Migjorn River is suitable for canoeing because of its width, depth, gentle current and low boat traffic. You can also kayak at Platja de Migjorn, where you can watch the sunrise as well. If you include the coast in your plans, Platja del Serrallo is a beach more than three kilometres long that can be up to 100 metres wide.

The Mirador de Migjorn offers wide-ranging views across the Delta and is a good spot for observing the many bird species that live there. Finca del ViolĂ can also be reached from Migjorn. There, you can see restored wetlands and a large bird colony. The view from the Mirador and nature observation at the finca are two different ways to make the landscape the focus of your visit.

Gola de Migjorn is one of the Ebro's former mouths; today, a sediment barrier blocks it. This is a striking feature of the landscape. The coast also has a place in the history of the area: the historic Far de Buda lighthouse fell into the sea on Christmas night in 1961 during a storm at sea.

Somriu, the celebration marking the anniversary of Lo Passador, has been held every year since 2010 over a weekend featuring numerous activities and market stalls. When planning your visit, check the dates of the events you want to attend.

Local eateries offer Delta-style breakfasts featuring Baldana, eel in sauce and prawn omelette. Offerings may vary from one establishment to another, so ask about the dishes currently available if you are interested. The weekly market in Sant Jaume d'Enveja takes place on Fridays.
