Saurí brings together medieval architectural history, contemporary art and a nature trail through the Vall d’Àssua. At Sant Víctor, the parish church and an artistic intervention by Santi Moix come together; the nature trail also begins beside the church. An old kiln and pottery workshops offer further local insights, while Seurí also provides a view over the Vall d’Àssua. Culture, traces of craftsmanship and outdoor activity are distinct highlights to help you decide how the village fits into your trip.

Sant Víctor: Medieval Church and Art

The parish church of Sant Víctor de Saurí is medieval and has been restored several times over the years. At the church, contemporary artist Santi Moix created an artistic intervention. Fresco painting was chosen for the project to ensure the work’s durability and pay tribute to the great masters of the Romanesque period. The multiple restorations are part of the building’s history; Santi Moix’s intervention brings a contemporary artistic dimension to the same church. Together, these offer two distinct perspectives on Sant Víctor: the medieval church and its restoration history, and a contemporary work connected both with durability and with the Romanesque period.

Nature Trail and Literary Hiking Route

The nature trail from Sort through the Vall d’Àssua begins in the upper part of Saurí beside the church of Sant Víctor and passes through Saurí and other villages in the Vall d’Àssua. Saurí is therefore both the starting point and one of the places along the route; the trail continues beyond the village.

The literary hiking route “Along the paths of The Voices of the Pamano (I)” starts in Seurí and takes 1 hour 40 minutes, with an elevation gain of 277 metres. The duration helps you gauge the time required; the elevation gain is another specific figure to consider when planning. Route conditions may change; check them before setting out.

A Walk, Craft and a View

On a walk through Seurí, you can see an old kiln and pottery workshops. Seurí also offers a view over the Vall d’Àssua. These two sights offer different highlights: the kiln and workshops draw attention to traces of craftsmanship, while the view looks out over the valley. If local cultural details are important to you, focus your walk on the kiln and workshops; the valley view offers a different perspective on the surroundings.
