L'Ametlla del Vallès: Hotels and Local History
Accommodation in L'Ametlla del Vallès
You can explore the local history of L'Ametlla del Vallès through walking routes, buildings and cultural themes. Five signposted routes bring the surrounding area to life and offer an introduction to the town’s history. Other perspectives are offered by the Centre d’Interpretació del Territori, an online postcard collection and historic buildings. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, these themes can help you decide what you would like to focus on during your trip.
Walking Routes and Landscape History
The five signposted routes let you experience the surrounding area and learn more about the town’s history. They give your stay a thematic framework, while offering different ways to explore the various historical topics.
A visit to Serrat de l'Ocata and Ermita de Sant Bartomeu de Montràs offers a glimpse of what life was like in the mid-mountain areas before the strong urbanisation of today. The two sites are connected with the historical interpretation of the landscape.
One walk takes you to the most important farmhouses in L'Ametlla del Vallès and explores the history of agriculture, which had a particularly strong influence on the area. Another walk introduces the living conditions of the many refugees from the Spanish Civil War who found shelter in local farmhouses. The walking routes thus cover everything from the area’s agricultural heritage to the experiences of people who sought refuge there during the war.
Culture and Collections at the CITA
The Centre d’Interpretació del Territori de l’Ametlla del Vallès (CITA) is housed in the restored former chapel of Can Camp. It promotes knowledge and appreciation of the town’s history, culture and traditions, as well as its historical memory. The centre also covers local flora and fauna.
In addition, the Museu de la Carta postal de l’Estat de l’Ametlla del Vallès, available online, holds more than 7,000 postcards from the Cercle Cartòfil de Catalunya. The collection focuses specifically on postcards and their connection to the town.
Buildings and Architectural History
Cal Barber, also known as casa Jaume Alern, was architect Joaquim Raspall i Mayol’s first work in L'Ametlla del Vallès, in 1904. Jaume Alerm i Monrós commissioned the building as a barber shop. Modernist stained-glass windows bearing the name of the house add a distinctive detail to its architectural history. The building’s original purpose as a barber shop and Raspall’s early work are therefore important aspects of its history.
The Ajuntament i escoles complex can also be understood through its original layout. The central part of the building housed the town administration, while the two side wings contained separate public schools for boys and girls. The complex originally brought together administrative and educational functions.
Festa Major and Getting There
The official programme for the 2026 Festa Major included traditional and popular events such as the pregó, the Topaeta, the Corretapes, the correfoc, the Homenatge a la Vellesa and the mass in honour of the patron saints. These events offer a concrete insight into the festival programme; dates and individual components relate to the specific event.
Sagalés route 348 provides local bus service between L'Ametlla del Vallès and Granollers. If you plan to use this connection for your journey, check the current timetable before travelling. When choosing a hotel, you might also consider whether you would like to focus your stay on the walking routes, architectural history or cultural attractions.
