Font de sa Cala
Accommodation in Font De Sa Cala
At Sa Font de sa Cala beach, fine white sand meets low rocks densely covered with pine trees. The shoreline is 100 metres long and 60 metres wide. The rocky areas are ideal for snorkelling—another distinctive feature of the beach, alongside its fine sand and pine-covered rocky scenery.
Beach facilities include a lifeguard service, an accessible wooden walkway, and hammock and parasol hire. There are also various water sports activities and a diving club that attracts diving enthusiasts. Snorkelling in the rocky areas and diving with the club are different ways to enjoy the water. Check current beach services and water sports activities before travelling.
There is a small car park for visitors arriving by car; the beach can also be reached by public transport and a small tourist train. The train stops here and at other beaches in the area. Check current information on transport and parking before setting off.
Culture in the wider destination of Capdepera
In the wider destination of Capdepera, construction of Castell de Capdepera began in the 14th century on the orders of King Jaume II of Mallorca. The site preserves defensive towers, walls, old cobbled streets and the Chapel of Sant Joan, also built in the 14th century. The castle stands on a hill above the town and offers views of Mallorca’s east coast and, on clear days, Menorca. It is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural (Asset of Cultural Interest).
The parish church of Sant Bartomeu in Capdepera dates from a different period: it was built in the second half of the 19th century. Its façade is neoclassical, and its bell tower is topped by a dome. The time gap between the castle and the much later church illustrates the difference between the building history of the complex and that of the church.
The Col·lecció d’Art Sacre is housed in the Casa del Governador within the castle grounds. It comprises more than 120 religious artworks, ranging from Romanesque to contemporary art, and is offered to residents and visitors as an open cultural heritage collection. The Museu de la Llata is also located in the Casa del Governador; admission is included with a visit to the monument. Check current opening hours and ticket information before visiting.
The sa llata weaving tradition continues in Capdepera: women still meet to preserve it and pass it on to younger generations. Casal Can Melis, also known as Centre Melis Cursach, has a clearly defined historical role: from 1916 to 1973, it was the Melis Cursach pharmacy.
