Nowa Wieś stretches along both sides of the Pstrągówka stream, on the slopes of numerous hills. Seven hamlets make up the village; old stands of trees, the watermill, and the Kapliczka na Brzostowej add natural and cultural features to the landscape. The Bukowa hiking and cycling trail is another specific point of reference. This gives you a basis for planning your trip by considering the landscape, the village’s layout, and its various historical associations.

Landscape and Old Stands of Trees

The stream and the slopes provide two different points of reference in describing the village: Nowa Wieś lies on both sides of the Pstrągówka and also extends along the slopes of numerous hills. Water and high ground therefore form part of the landscape together. The location is defined not by a single feature, but by the combination of the stream and hilly terrain.

The old stands of trees also differ in age. The predominant group dates from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The oldest stands, with the character of oak woodland, date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. These details refer to different groups: the first describes the predominant stands, while the second refers to the oldest stands with the character of oak woodland.

Hamlets as Points of Reference

Nowa Wieś is divided into the hamlets of Podlas, Niebylec, Borek, Bania, Łazy, Budy, and Koniówka. These names help you locate places within the municipality more precisely. Budy, for example, is the hamlet where the Kapliczka na Brzostowej is located. So when exploring Nowa Wieś, the hamlets are just as useful for orientation as the name of the village as a whole.

Watermill and Kapliczka

The old watermill on the Pstrągówka was built in the 19th century at the initiative of Teofil Wasilewski. It is no longer in operation. Its location by the stream and its known construction date connect a specific place in the landscape with a historical reference. The Kapliczka na Brzostowej offers a different point of interest: it is located in the hamlet of Budy, at the highest point of the ridge.

The reason the Kapliczka was built remains unknown. In their recorded histories, the two local cultural features are therefore different: the mill has a known construction date and initiator, while the reason for building the Kapliczka remains unclear. Its location at the highest point of the ridge and its position in Budy nevertheless provide precise geographical reference points.

The Bukowa Hiking and Cycling Trail

The route of the Bukowa hiking and cycling trail, as described in 2013, runs from Zaborów across the Wisłok to Nowa Wieś and onward toward Czudec. A rest area is also listed for the section in Nowa Wieś. This sequence places the village on a route that passes through several named stops. Check the route and trail markings before setting out.

The landscape, hamlets, two different cultural features, and trail offer various ways to get to know Nowa Wieś. It is worth keeping the details about the tree stands distinct and not assuming that the mill is still in operation. This will give you a more precise picture of what characterizes the village and which details may matter when planning your trip.
