Dynów sits high above the San Valley; the surrounding Dynów Foothills, named after the town, frame the city. Several themes can help you plan your trip: historic buildings in the townscape, an educational trail about the history of Dynów’s Jewish residents, and hiking and cycling routes. If you are looking for a hotel in Dynów, these themes can help you decide what to focus on during your trip.

Townscape and History

The market square is lined with houses and townhouses dating from around the turn of the 20th century. St. Lawrence’s Church was built in the 17th century in the late Renaissance style; its vault is decorated with stucco. The buildings from around 1900 and the 17th-century church thus represent different periods in Dynów’s history.

The earliest mention of the town dates to 1423, when it was called Denow. This early written reference gives the town’s history a specific date. Alongside the later buildings around the market square and the church, the recorded themes span local history and architecture.

Dynów’s military history includes two combat bunkers belonging to the so-called Molotov Line on Bartkówka Street. The first is built into the slope of Winnica near house number 18 and is designed as a single-embrasure frontal bunker. Alongside the historic buildings and the church, this military history offers another perspective on the town. The educational trail “In the Footsteps of Dynów’s Jewish Residents” explores the history of Dynów’s Jewish residents, adding a distinct historical focus to the architectural themes.

Hiking Trails and Cycling Routes

Three marked hiking trails run through Dynów. Before setting out, check whether the trail markings are still up to date. A marked tourist route of around 17 kilometres leads to five viewpoints and beaches along the San. Most of the route is currently suitable and prepared for cyclists; conditions may change. The viewpoints can also be reached on foot.

The “Doliną Sanu” Nature, Education and Tourism Cycling Trail was designated by the Association of Tourism Municipalities of the Dynów Foothills; two of its routes start and end in Dynów. The second route passes through Łubno and Nozdrzec, includes a ferry crossing, and returns to Dynów via Dąbrówka Starzeńska; it is about 22 kilometres long. If you plan to take this route, it is advisable to check current route conditions and ferry operations in advance.

The two routes have different focuses: the roughly 17-kilometre route leads to viewpoints and beaches, and the viewpoints can also be reached on foot. The second route on the cycling trail is a circuit of about 22 kilometres that includes a ferry crossing. The approximate distances and routes provide a concrete basis for choosing between these described options.

Narrow-Gauge Railway in Dynów

At the narrow-gauge railway station in Dynów, a locomotive is displayed as an open-air museum exhibit. The station building is considered the most representative along the line. The Przeworska Kolej Dojazdowa narrow-gauge railway runs between Dynów and Przeworsk. If you are planning a ride, check the current timetable in advance.
