Tyczyn’s market square is a good introduction to the history of Rzeszowski County: it preserves a historic town layout, with several townhouses dating from the 18th century and a former town hall. The urban layout was entered in the register of monuments in 1970. Elsewhere in the county, cultural attractions range from late Baroque religious architecture and palace gardens to regional museums; nature trails, river landscapes and a traditional speciality offer other highlights. This lets you choose the focus of your stay based on history, landscape or regional culture.

Residences, Religious Architecture and Local History

Tyczyn’s cultural heritage also includes the Wodzicki Palace. A landscape park with valuable mature trees and natural monuments surrounds the building; the entire palace-and-park complex was entered in the register of monuments in 1968. Summer openings have become a tradition for visitors. A first pilot tour, organised by Rzeszowski County in August 2024, attracted considerable interest. It was then decided to continue these encounters with history. Before making plans, check whether tours are taking place and when.

You’ll find another residence in Boguchwała: the Lubomirski Palace complex is a late Baroque ensemble dating from the mid-18th century. It includes a geometric landscape park laid out in the French style in the 18th century. In Borek Stary, by contrast, religious architecture takes centre stage. The Dominican monastery complex is a Marian shrine with a late Baroque church built between 1684 and 1726. Tyczyn thus combines a town layout with a palace park, Boguchwała a residence with a park, and Borek Stary a pilgrimage site with a church built during a clearly defined period.

Museums and Places with Special Themes

The Harmonica Museum is located at the cultural centre in Kamień. Also in Kamień is the “MAŁE ARBORETUM” leisure and educational park. In Kamień-Podlesie, a body of water lies along the “Zdołga” nature and environmental education trail. The museum, park and trail each offer a distinct way to explore the area.

The Regional Museum in Sołonka houses archaeological, geological, historical and ethnographic collections. The salt cascade in Sołonka is also a popular excursion destination; it was opened to visitors in 2010. It is advisable to check the current visitor information in advance. Together, the museum and salt cascade give the locality both a connection to its collections and a distinctive appeal as an excursion destination.

River Landscapes, Nature Reserve and Trails

The “Mójka” nature reserve protects beech and fir forest complexes as well as beavers living in wetlands. It is located in Kąkolówka and Futoma. The Wisłok shapes a different kind of landscape: it flows through the central part of Rzeszowski County and leaves several river branches and oxbow lakes in the Sandomierz Basin. The forest reserve and the river’s course show two different aspects of the landscape, without requiring visitors to seek out the same kind of nature experience.

If you’re interested in a waymarked hiking trail, the yellow-marked “Jelenia” trail runs through gorges and along streams to the “Błędny Kamień” natural monument. Its route through gorges and alongside streams offers a different perspective on nature from the Wisłok river landscape. The information describes the trail and its destination; before planning, check the conditions relevant to your visit.

Regional Cuisine and Travel Information

One regional speciality from Rzeszowski County is Futomski bulwiok. This pastry is filled with potatoes, cheese and plenty of mint, and was added to Poland’s list of regional and traditional products in 2007. The recipe has been passed down from generation to generation. Both its specific ingredients and its traditional preparation are part of the story of this speciality.

For travel connections beyond the region: the A4 motorway runs through Rzeszowski County, and Rzeszów–Jasionka Airport is located in the county. The Przeworsk–Dynów narrow-gauge railway also offers a distinctive connection to the region: its route runs through Rzeszowski County, and a journey along the line takes about three hours. Check operating conditions before travelling and allow for the approximate journey time.

If you’re looking for a hotel for your stay, first consider whether your trip will focus more on local history, nature trails or regional collections. The attractions mentioned are spread across different places in the county; choose your base according to the stops that interest you most.
