Tulce can be explored through several themes during a stay: church architecture and sacred art, the history of a castle in a landscape park, and cycling routes that pass through the town. If you are looking for a hotel in Tulce, these highlights can help you plan your stay around your interests. The focus here is on both specific sights to visit and tips for finding your way by bike and when changing between modes of transport.

Church and sacred art

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Kościół pw. Narodzenia Najświętszej Marii Panny) is one of the oldest brick churches in Greater Poland. It is open to visitors from both outside and inside; nevertheless, check visiting arrangements with the parish before your trip. Inside is a late-medieval Madonna and Child, made around 1500. This brings together the region’s architectural history and a single work of art from around 1500 in one place. Your visit can accordingly focus on two things: the brick church as a building and the Madonna inside.

Next to the church stands a two-storey wooden bell tower dating from 1860. The church and tower thus offer two neighboring structures made from different materials and in different architectural forms.

Wayside figure and local history

Next to the church is a 16th-century column-shaped wayside figure. It is topped by a four-sided chapel depicting scenes from the Passion and the donor couple, Jan and Elżbieta Winkler. To take in the wayside figure, it helps to look at it from the bottom up: the column supports the chapel structure with its religious motifs and depictions of the donor couple.

A chapel once served as a boundary marker between the former provinces of Poznań and Kalisz. This historical detail adds the story of a former administrative boundary to the picture of Tulce.

Castle and landscape park

The castle in Tulce lies in the middle of an extensive landscape park. Its construction was initiated in the 1920s by the German Sarrazin family; members of the family once lived in the castle. The castle’s history thus involves two distinct aspects: the initiative behind its construction and its former use as a residence. The castle currently houses an institutional office, so public access should not be assumed. If you are planning a visit, check in advance whether entry is possible.

Cycling routes and transfers

The two cycling routes offer different guidance for planning your rides. The southern section of the Transwielkopolska Cycling Route passes through Tulce and continues towards Środa Wlkp.; the Poznań Ring Cycling Route also passes through the town. The southern section thus indicates a continuation towards Środa Wlkp., while the other route is identified as a ring route around Poznań. Check the current signage before setting off if you plan to follow either route.

A municipal infrastructure listing from 2023 notes that at the Szkoła Tulce transfer point, you can leave your bike and change to buses on routes 431, 432 and 435. Check the timetable and current signage if you are planning to combine cycling and bus travel.
