When planning a trip to the Warthelager Military Training Area, you can consider cycling, nature education and cultural history as different points of interest. In Biedrusko, options include an educational trail by the pond, a forest laboratory in the Łysy Młyn watermill, self-guided activities, and Pałac Biedrusko with its museum and park. The destinations differ in format, ranging from a cycling route connection to an educational trail, a quest and a palace complex.

Cycling route, water and forest

The cycling route connection allows you to ride the Chludowo–Suchy Las–Biedrusko section without entering the military training area. Check local route conditions before setting off.

At the “Łysy Młyn” Forest Education Centre in Biedrusko, the “Rola wody w przyrodzie” educational trail runs around the pond. Its title means “The role of water in nature” and indicates the trail’s thematic focus. There is also a forest laboratory in the “Łysy Młyn” watermill building. The two offerings provide different ways to explore nature topics: the educational trail links the theme of water with the pond, while the laboratory in the mill building is devoted to the forest. If you consider water and forest as separate interests, both the subject matter and format differ here.

Self-guided activities in Biedrusko

The “Biedrusko. W cieniu poligonu” outdoor family game can be played independently at any time. The “O niepodległości i wojskowości w Biedrusku” quest is a self-guided tour through Biedrusko. It presents the Poles’ battles during the Greater Poland Uprising, as well as the history of numerous local buildings and monuments. The quest therefore combines the history of events with the history of local buildings. When choosing between the two offerings, the formats and topics differ: an outdoor family game and a history-focused tour.

Palace, museum and park

Pałac Biedrusko was built between 1877 and 1880 by Ludwik Huhn for Albrecht Otton von Treskow in the Neo-Renaissance style. The Palace houses the Museum of Military and Interior Architecture (Muzeum Wojskowe i Architektury Wnętrz). The construction dates indicate when it was built, while Neo-Renaissance names the architectural style; the client and architect add two specific people to the historical context. The Palace thus combines architectural history with the museum’s themes of military history and interior architecture.

The park surrounding the Palace includes an amphitheatre, a lovers’ bower of sighs, ponds and a fountain. The cultural theme therefore extends beyond the building to features of the surrounding park. The Palace’s history and the museum offer different points of focus from these named park features. To distinguish the various points of interest, you can consider the building and its history, the museum’s subject matter and the park’s features separately.
