For planning your trip, Tłokinia Kościelna offers clearly identifiable points of interest: the wooden St. James’s Church with its artworks, a memorial stone cross in the palace park, and cycling connections of varying lengths. The church and parish cemetery are in the southern part of the village; in the northern part of the palace park, a hornbeam avenue leads to the cross. If you choose your destination according to your interests, you can consider religious art and memorial sites separately from cycling.

Church, artworks and parish cemetery

The wooden St. James’s Church dates from the early 18th century. Its main altar contains a copy of the 17th-century image of Our Lady of Częstochowa, known as Matka Boska Tłokińska. Another work is the sliding painting of the Holy Family from the first half of the 18th century. The local name Matka Boska Tłokińska gives the Częstochowa Madonna a distinct connection to Tłokinia Kościelna; the sliding painting adds the motif of the Holy Family. The dates also differ: the Madonna image is from the 17th century, while the church and sliding painting are from the 18th century. The parish cemetery is also in the southern part of the village. Here, architectural history, a local name for an image and two religious motifs come together.

Stone cross in the palace park

In the northern part of the palace park, a hornbeam avenue leads to a stone cross dedicated to Stanisław Chrystowski. Chrystowski died in 1896. The cross provides a different focus from the church’s sacred images: here, the central feature is a dedication by name, linked to a biographical date. The avenue and the stone cross give the park its own historical point of reference within the village. If you are interested in memorial sites as well as religious art, this dedication offers a specific point of interest.

Cycling routes on different scales

For cyclists, two different scales should be distinguished. A county report from May 2020 mentions a completed 1.417 km cycling path section along county road 4327 P between Tłokinia Kościelna and Rożdżały. A route description dated July 16, 2025, mentions a 36.1 km route that passes through Tłokinia Kościelna and connects Krzyżówki with Kalisz Winiary. The places listed along the route are Koźlątków, Zakrzyn, Lisków, Dębsko, Emilianów, Osuchów, Murowaniec Zalew, Dębe Kolonia, Stary Nakwasin, Słoneczna, Rożdżały and Nędzerzew. The two distances refer to different planning scales: 1.417 km is a section along a specific county road, while 36.1 km is the route between two endpoints. Rożdżały appears in both descriptions, but has a different role in each—as the endpoint of the shorter section and as one of the places listed on the longer route. You can distinguish between the cycling options by distance, route and place names.
