LaSalle for Your Stay

If you’re looking for a hotel in LaSalle, local offerings can help you plan your stay around your interests. These include paved trails, activities on the Detroit River, a waterfront route used differently by season, as well as markets, a festival and public art. Offerings vary by activity and season. For weather-dependent activities or a planned event visit, check current municipal notices and dates.

Parks, Trails and Nature

LaSalle’s parks include more than 100 acres of parkland for residents and visitors to explore. There are also more than 50 km of paved trails for walking, jogging, skating and cycling. This means the trails accommodate several types of activity, from a stroll to a bike ride. Along the LaSalle Trails, 16 trail markers help visitors find their way.

On the Detroit River and The Loop

The LaSalle Boat Ramp is located at LaSalle Landing on the Detroit River, at the intersection of Front Road and Laurier Drive. LaSalle Landing also offers opportunities to launch boats and fish along the Detroit River waterfront on Front Road. This lets you include specific waterfront activities in your plans without confusing them with the trails in town.

In warm weather, The Loop along the LaSalle Landing waterfront is a paved recreational path for walking, jogging, cycling, and inline and roller skating. From December to February, The Loop becomes a skating trail. This seasonal change clearly distinguishes walking and wheeled activities from ice skating. Operating conditions may vary; check current municipal notices before visiting.

Vollmer Complex and Other Recreational Offerings

The Vollmer Complex has seven parking areas with accessible access and space for a total of 1,500 vehicles. Five areas are paved, and two are gravel. Parking facilities may change due to site work. There is also a splash pad, in addition to an accessible playground. It operates seasonally; operation depends on the weather and municipal notices.

The LaSalle Dog Park is a fenced off-leash area with separate sections for dogs under 25 pounds and large dogs. Rules and maintenance conditions may change, so it’s a good idea to check notices before visiting. The separate sections are a specific feature of the park; they don’t describe other trails or park areas in LaSalle.

Events and Public Art

The LaSalle Night Markets take place on the last Sunday from May through August, as well as on the last Sunday in September. Dates may change in future seasons. If you’d like to plan your stay around a market visit, check the date for the relevant season.

The LaSalle Strawberry Festival is a four-day event at the Vollmer Complex featuring a carnival, parade, live entertainment, fireworks and a variety of food. Specific dates and programming may change, so check current festival information when planning your trip. Another piece of public art is Le Griffon: the Corten steel sculpture was installed in June 2018 at the roundabout at Malden Road and Todd Lane in LaSalle.
