Zundert offers several clear reasons to visit: the annual Corso, sites associated with Vincent van Gogh, and opportunities for walking and cycling. For planning, it helps to decide on your main focus first. The Corso takes place in September; the routes are defined by specific distances or landscapes.

Corso Zundert and the September date

Corso Zundert is the world’s largest dahlia parade. Every year on the first Sunday in September, twenty neighbourhoods compete for the honorary title of Corso. In the lead-up to the parade, dahlias bloom throughout Zundert. The Corsotour begins during Tik weekend, on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the parade. If you are planning your accommodation around the Corso, check the date for the relevant year and distinguish between the parade Sunday and the days of Tik weekend.

Van Gogh heritage and local history

Vincent van Gogh was born and grew up in Zundert. The Vincent van GoghHuis stands at the site of his birth and offers an audio tour. Another family connection is the Van Goghkerkje: Van Gogh’s father, Theodorus van Gogh, preached there. The Van Goghmonument stands on Vincent van Goghplein and can be visited free of charge. Together, these sites mark different aspects of the connection with Zundert: his birth and upbringing, his father’s work, and the monument.

The Van Gogh Gallery Zundert displays and sells works by artists who have worked in Zundert as artists-in-residence. Admission is free. If you would like to visit the gallery, check its current accessibility in advance. Another historic landmark is the Zundertse Akkermolen, which dates back to 1665.

Walks with different themes

The Van Gogh walking route is 8 km long and passes six Van Gogh monuments. The 8 km Zundert Trappist walking route can also still be walked, although the beer is no longer brewed. The De Kievit Trappist brewery in Zundert closed in September 2025. Both routes are the same length, but differ in their stated themes.

Oude Buisse Heide is in the municipality of Zundert, between Achtmaal and Schijf. Walking routes there pass through old forests and alongside meadows, fields, marsh lakes and farmsteads. Visitors can stroll past the bird enclosures in the nature education garden at VRC Zundert. This means a walk can take in a range of landscape features or a garden with bird enclosures.

Cycling along the river and through the landscape

A cycle path runs along the Aa of Weerijs, a river formed by meltwater during the last Ice Age. The Bomenfietsroute runs past forests, heathland and tree nurseries. If you are interested in the waterway itself, the cycle path along the Aa of Weerijs combines a river landscape with a geological story. The Bomenfietsroute offers a different landscape focus, with forests, heathland and tree nurseries.
